Welcome to the 2021 Earth Science on Volcanic Islands (ESVI) REU student cohort to the UH Mnoa campus. Today kicked off the first day of the2021 ESVI REU Program, where 4 local and 7 mainland students will be engaged in independent research projects with SOEST faculty mentors for the next 9 weeks. The REU students will conduct research on-campus for the month of June, and will then continue their research remotely for an additional 5 weeks in July and present their resul...ts remotely at the2021 SURE Symposiumon July 30th. . Summer has begun in Hawaii and so did field season for many of our researchers and students - this weekend was an early start for ESVI REU student Aston Ramos, who studies the hydrology of Pupukea tide pool on Oahu.
