Rental assistance applications can be accepted as early as Monday, April 12, for Hawai'i County residents struggling to pay for their housing because of COVID-19 job losses or income reduction. Assistance can cover up to 12 months of rent and household utilities. Qualifying people are Hawai'i County residents 18 years of age and older who have suffered a job or income loss due to COVID-19, can show proof of late rent, an eviction notice, or utilities bill(s), and have househo...ld income at or below 80% AMI (Area Median Income). Applicants will need to show the following documentation for all household members: a government issue ID, a rental agreement or rent bill, a 1040 Federal tax return for 2020, recent pay stubs, and an unemployment insurance receipt or PUA approval letter.
