Dr. Shugeng Cao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences who teaches in Integrated Therapeutics I-IV, Drug Actions I and II, Complementary Medicine, and an elective Drugs from Microorganisms and the Ocean. His current research interests include drug discovery from natural sources in Hawaii including fungi and bacteria, active compounds from herbal medicines and their mechanisms of action, and small molecules and their functions in animals and human beings. Meet Christina who is a Clinical Education Support Specialist. She manages DKICP's student health requirements and certifications, schedules and clears students for IPPE and APPE rotations, and she also coordinates and faciitates IPPE workshops. She would like to remind students to keep all your requirements and certifications up to date. She also would like to say, ""Congratulations, Class of 2021!!"" When she's not at DKICP, you can find Christina working either at the Seaside Restaurant as a bartender and server or at KTA Super Stores as a CPhT. National Nurses Week starts today and DKICP would like to thank and honor all of the nurses for their committment and dedication to their patients and their community. DKICP is forever grateful for the opportunities our students have to work alongside nurses and nursing educators in the experiential setting. A huge shout out to UH Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene, UH Hilo School of Nursing, and Hawaii Community College Nursing for their collaboration and efforts during the mass vaccination clinics/pods in Hilo and on Oahu. Let's all celebrate and recognize the nurses in our communities. National Nurses week ends on May 12, the birthday of modern nursing founder Florence Nightingale! #NursesWeek2021

Last call for Fall 2021 applications! DKICP's PharmCAS deadline is on June 1st. All transcripts should be received by PharmCAS by this date. Submitting eTranscripts is strongly recommended. PharmCAS will begin accepting applications for Fall 2022 starting in mid-July 2021.
