Completed Refresher Training on "Medical Evidence and Soft Tissue Injuries in CAAP ('Court Annexed Arbitration Program')." CAAP is a program in which all tort (personal injury) cases filed in Circuit Court with a probable value of less than $150,000 are automatically referred to non-binding arbitration. Attorneys volunteer to serve as arbitrators for these cases for free (a $50 thank you fee is given.) I have been appointed arbitrator in a number of these cases, and it has always been an interesting experience. The point of arbitration is to have a simpler, cheaper, faster resolution of tort cases.
