LbE Hawaii is proud to host a beach cleanup along the Kailua and Kalama coast of O’ahu as well as a street cleanup in the Kaka’ako district. Anyone is welcome to join us in either event. Taking care of beautiful Waimea Valley by picking up invading vines from our land. Invasive plants are spread by humanity’s simple daily activities such as transport and travel. Recently, those seeds are found even on the surface of plastics washed away from gyres.

LbE Hawaii is honored to have received the Environmental Hero Award from the City and County of Honolulu today. This achievement is just the beginning. We will strive to do more to protect our ‘ina.

Team LbE Hawaii participated in @sustainablecoastlineshawaii first ever Kaimuki Cleanup. Rather than doing the actual cleanup along the streets and streams of Kaimuki, we had our first experience as data collectors, where we got to sort all of the collected debris - full of plastic food wrappers, plastic bags, plastic utensils, takeout containers, masks, and general trash. Altogether - 3,000+ pounds of trash collected in a single community.
