Next week is National Estate Planning Awareness Week. We’re always shocked when we hear rich and/or famous people have died without a Will or Trust (Prince, Sonny Bono, Michael Jackson, and most recently Chadwick Bozeman), but what about you and your family? Are your wishes known and your assets protected for your loved ones? Contact my office for careful and considerate Estate Planning services. What are you waiting for?... Visit www.lisaatkinsonpllc.com for more information and to set up an appointment today!
Went to Austin for ABA Midyear. Moderated a panel on voter disenfranchisement with Nikki’s husband. And then I fell asleep.
Please join us (yes, I'm speaking) for a lively discussion on voting rights and the 14th, 15th, and 19th Amendments to the Constitution. Free, but you must register.
These are scary times we’re facing in light of the growing spread of COVID-19. If you find yourself in need of estate planning or probate services, please be assured that you can trust me to help in a confidential and timely manner. Please stay safe, everyone, and let’s get through this together (but apart).
Informal article I wrote for ABA GPSolo’s eReport. More formal article will come out in the next printing of GPSolo Magazine. Enjoy! https://www.americanbar.org//how-i-expanded-diversified-m/
As this decade comes to a close, I have a couple of minutes (literally, I have 3 classes to prepare before Jan. 6 and two probates to file) to reflect on where I started and where I’ve come. So humbled to finally be where I belong, doing what I love (a little cooking, a little teaching, a little lawyering, a little judging). A huge thank you to my family, friends, colleagues and clients for helping me get to this place- literally and figuratively. May the (next) Roaring 20’s ...bring you all health, happiness, and enough. Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!
1 out of 1 kittens say my Law Office fills him with so much confidence he can nap soundly knowing I’ve got his back. *note: kitten may have been compensated with chin scratches and compliments for giving this endorsement*
As the proud daughter of educators, I am concerned about schools reopening for face-to-face instruction this Fall. I hope that everyone can stay safe and healthy, but I worry about how many of our dedicated educators and staff could have their health compromised. Please know that I’m here to help if you have questions or need help ensuring that you and your family are protected in the event of any compromising health events. Please be safe. We appreciate you.
Excited to announce that I will be taking the upcoming Civil Mediation training offered by the National Judicial College. Looking forward to adding mediation to my practice areas and being able to provide much needed mediation services to Hawaii Island! https://www.judges.org/courses/civil-mediation-3/
It’s not all hand pies and gardening here in paradise. Some work is actually being accomplished. #abagpsolo

Even after moving 2500 miles from the West Coast, I made it a priority to be at ABA Annual for my final days as Chair-Elect of the National Conference of Specialized Court Judges, Chair of the Tribal Courts Council, and Chair of the GPSolo Diversity Board. It’s early, I’m tired, but I’m here to serve. #ABAANNUAL
Spent several days in the lovely Native Village of White Mountain, Alaska, doing a court assessment for TWG. Wonderful community and hospitality. Bonus- came home with some moose jerky (from moose meat I traded Hawaiian coffee and Kona Chocolate for-made the jerky on site), a cool flashing bracelet, and lodge pin, and a challenge coin from the VPSO.
