The twolined spittle bug is a small black leafhopper with two distinguishing red-orange stripes; hence the name. For such a tiny bug it's already causing devastating damage to ranch land on the west side of the island. It is a hitchhiker that is easily spread by hiding on vehicles, equipment, and possibly even plants. Keep an eye out for patches of dead grass that have an unknown cause. If you find a TLSB report it to us or call 643-PEST. #hawaiiconservation #hawaiiranchers #invasivespecies #tlsb #hawaiiagriculture #spittlebug #invasivebugs

Queensland Longhorn Beetles are spreading. Check your trees for QLB damage! The larvae of these beetles live within the trunks of trees and can cause extensive damage. Check your trees for oozing sap, frass, girdling, and exit holes where the adult has left the gallery. Other burrowing beetles can also make similar-looking damage. If you have trees that may have QLB damage take a picture and send it to us in a DM or an email! #hawaiiconservation #hawaiifarming #invasivespecie...s #invasivebug #longhornbeetle #treedamage #pests See more

Have you seen a Queensland Longhorn Beetle? There are quite a few insects that look similar to QLB and can be tricky to ID. Send us a DM or an email so we can ID them for you. . . . #hawaiiconservation #invasivespecies #invasivebugs #longhornbeetle #insects #lookalikes

Little fire ants are active every day of the year; day and night! They can sneak onto your property and you may not notice until they have become happily established. It's important to survey regularly (2-4 times a year) to make sure you can catch any new infestations early while they are easier to treat. Questions about LFA? How to treat? How to survey? Check out our website at: biisc.org/lfa or send us a DM.... #hawaiiconservation #invasivespecies #invasiveants #lfa #ants #pests #prevention
