The Snorkel Store 23.12.2021

THE SNORKEL STORE'S MAUI REPORT: Sunny skies & smaller waves today making for really nice snorkeling conditions. Trade winds out of the east remain strongest in the usual areas of Ma’alaea & the far Northwest. A bit of an on-shore breeze is expected in Kihei while a nice offshore breeze around 10 mph is likely to keep the ocean surface smooth in Ka’anapali. Waves are smaller but are still breaking in some areas with occasional larger waves. Please remember conditions can cha...nge quickly- they can also get better! North West: 8.0 Passing clouds from time to time but mostly sunny & windy. Very small chance of isolated showers. There are waves in the shallowest areas & they may increase a little bit this afternoon. Inside Kapalua bay & Honolua bay are best while the inside of Napili bay is good too, just with a little more wave action. The wind & currents become extremely strong outside of the bays in deeper water. Near Ka'anapali: 8.5 Sunshine & lighter wind expected for most of the day. Breeze out of the east around 8 mph will probably keep the ocean surface nice & smooth. Slightly elevated waves along the shoreline in parts of the shoreline but still pretty small. The south face of Black Rock & Kahekili are both looking really good. Currents become stronger out near the tip in deeper water. Southside: 7.0 Mostly sunny skies this morning with increasing clouds expected this afternoon. Strong winds in North Kihei becoming onshore into South Kihei then strong & offshore in the far south. The waves are on the decline but still breaking. Kamaole beaches, Ulua beach & Makena Landing have improved & are looking good. Wind waves may increase this afternoon. #turtleready #snorklife #maui #hawaii

THE SNORKEL STORE'S MAUI REPORT: Happy Aloha Friday!! Beautiful day for hanging out on the beach & playing in the ocean. The waves are continuing to rise in size & power throughout the South Shore & in some areas of Ka’anapali Beach. The Northwest has small waves & great snorkeling conditions inside most of the bays. There may be some passing clouds, but mostly sunny skies are expected in all 3 Zones. Trade winds slowing down a little bit, still strong in some areas & out at... sea in the channels. North West: 8.5 Beautiful snorkeling conditions inside Kapalua bay & Honolua bay. Napili bay has waves breaking above the reef & along parts of the shoreline. Passing clouds & sunshine expected all day. Breezy east wind gusting around 20 mph. Currents strong further out from shore & outside the bays. Near Ka'anapali: 7.0 Beautiful day! Waves are breaking in areas of Ka’anapali beach, most powerful about halfway from Whalers Village to Black Rock. Visibility is still really good along the south face of Black Rock. Kahekili is also looking beautiful. Please be extra cautious of increasing waves today. Sunny with favorable wind expected all day. Please avoid the areas with breaking waves & stronger currents further out from shore. Southside: 4.5 Waves are breaking & will probably pick up more. They are affecting snorkeling throughout the Zone. The smallest waves can be found at Kamaole beach park 1, the north corner of Ulua beach, and the north end of Wailea beach. THE SNORKEL STORE'S MAUI REPORT: We are starting the weekend off with beautiful sunny skies & lighter wind. The waves are expected to get bigger due a new, more powerful south swell. The Northwest Zone has the smallest waves, the Southside has the largest waves & Ka’anapali has areas of small waves & bigger waves. The wind is expected to mellow out a bit & even become a sea breeze this afternoon in some areas. ... The main thing today is to avoid snorkeling in areas with breaking waves & enjoy the incredible weather! Please remember that conditions can change quickly. North West: 8.5 Napili bay has waves breaking which is adversely affecting snorkeling. Kapalua bay & Honolua bay have very small waves & amazing snorkeling conditions. Currents are stronger further out from shore. Sunshine expected all day with the very slight possibility of passing clouds & isolated tropical showers. Near Ka'anapali: 7.0 Sunny incredibly gorgeous beach day with light wind expected. Snorkeling along the south face of Black Rock & Kahekili is good with clear visibility, but please be extra cautious of shore breaking waves nearby. The waves are expected to continue to rise & are breaking powerfully in small areas of the shoreline already. Closer to Black Rock & Kahekili beach park the waves are smallest. Southside: 3.0 Beautiful sunny beach day. The wind has calmed down quite a bit. The waves have picked up & are expected to increase & are breaking powerfully throughout the Zone. Currents are stronger & visibility is poor. The smallest waves in the Zone can be found at the Kamaole beach parks. Snorkeling conditions are not looking very good though. #turtleready #snorklife #maui #hawaii
