Last year, community members contacted me about the alarming rate of speeding and red-light violations. As a result, I introduced a bill to improve traffic safety for our residents by citing red-light violators. Act 30, SLH 2020, created a two-year pilot program to enable @HawaiiDepartmentOfTransportation to implement a red light citation system that will improve road safety. Join me at @HawaiiDepartmentOfTransportation's virtual public hearing on Thursday, June 17, 2021 about the Photo Red Light Imaging Detection System proposed rules. The rules adopted will be used to provide guidance to ensure the proper implementation of the new law. Microsoft Teams meeting information can be found at the link in my bio.

The House of Representatives is working to provide oversight of our state government. One way that we can do this is through an investigative committee. An investigative committee has the ability to subpoena testimony and documents to carry out its investigation. During the 2021 legislative session, the House adopted House Resolution 164 authorizing the creation of an investigative committee to follow up on two audits of the state land division (Report No. 19-12) and Agribusiness Development Corporation (Report No. 21-01). Today, I appointed the members of the committee. The committee will soon begin its work and advance the House's goal of reforming and improving government. We want to ensure that agencies like the land division and ADC carry out their work in an above board manner that will also ensure public confidence.
