From Mr.. Franz, our elementary school is waiting for information and direction from the DOE and will make an announcement as soon as we can. In the meantime our school is planning to open all class rooms following the Blended Model for the 4th quarter.

Aloha Parents and Guardians, We are excited to have more students on campus in the days ahead. There have been a variety of news reports and conversations about schools reopening over the past few weeks and we'd like to clear up any confusion and share updated information on our reopening plans. Due to the available space on our campus, and current social distancing guidelines, we are NOT able to accommodate 100% of our students, 5 days a week for face-to-face in person learn...ing. We ARE able to have approximately half of our students on campus each day, and will continue to increase the number of students attending face-to-face following the Blended Model. Currently, we have 15 classrooms on campus following the Blended Model. Beginning on March 22, that number will double. A few additional classrooms will be returning to campus once staffing arrangements have been made. Full distance learning is still an available option for the remainder of the school year. Please review King Kamehameha III School Reopening Procedures 2020-21. This document contains essential information everyone must know as students return to campus. It can also be found on our school website for future reference. All health and safety guidelines must be followed to ensure a safe return for all to school. Key points to review are: Daily Wellness Check Masks Hand Washing Ohana Bubbles Drop Off and Pick Up Bus Service We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to move forward. We can’t wait to see most of you back on campus in the 4th quarter. Enjoy your Spring Break next week. Until next time, I mua from your King Kamehameha III Ohana. Aloha, The link below is a memo, from Superintendent Kishimoto, that came out today. It provides information on the DOE position regarding in-person learning next year. I encourage you to read it for yourself. Here are the highlights: For school year 2021-22, the expectation is that all HIDOE schools will be fully open for daily, in-person learning.... Schools will not be offering a full distance learning model as an alternative to in-person learning for the school year 2021-22. We must remain vigilant to keep our school communities safe. Current essential strategies include: Directing students and staff to stay home when sick, consistent mask-wearing, and proper hand hygiene. We will continue to work with health leaders as mitigation strategies continue to be studied and refined. I do not have any specific information on social distancing, mask wearing, vaccinations, or other mitigation practices we may be expected to follow. I am sure that will be communicated once decisions have been made. This information will be helpful for all of us as we plan for next school year. Aloha Parents and Guardians, Now that we are reopen and students are settling in to school routines, we would like to share a few reminders and offer suggestions to improve our efficiency: Drop Off and Pick Up... For student drop off and pick up, I encourage you to consider using the parking lot across from the school at the corner of Prison and Front Streets. We have a crossing guard in place to assist our students and families. This will help free up the traffic on Front Street and in our loading zone. This option is more appropriate for our older students, Please inform your child's teacher and they will dismiss your child to this area at the end of the day. Arrival Students should be dropped off at the gates on Front Street beginning at 7:30am. School begins at 7:45am. Students arriving at school must report directly to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classroom ohana bubble space. Late students must check in at the office once the gates are closed at 7:50am. Dismissal Teachers will remain with students to help with social distancing and dismissal. If students are being picked up in the loading zone, parents should display a sign (given by teacher) with student first name and room number in the passenger windshield to expedite the pickup process. Students will be released and should be picked up by parents and guardians according to the following staggered dismissal times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays Kinder and First Grades: 1:45 Second and Third Grades: 1:55 Fourth and Fifth Grades: 2:00 Wednesdays (limited number of students on campus) Kinder and First Grades: 1:00 Second and Third Grades: 1:10 Fourth and Fifth Grades: 1:15 *Parents picking up students in multiple grades should arrive in the pick up zone according to the dismissal time of the oldest student. Younger students will wait for their older siblings, so they can be picked up at the same time
