Aloha friends and family Here are a few photos taken of my art exhibition which was just recently installed at the Hawaii State Art Museum. Following earlier postings of individual artworks in development, I’m quite pleased now to share pics of the exhibition artworks installed as a collective whole. My exhibition includes both paintings and prints that I’ve been crafting through the months of 2020. These artworks have largely focused on the concept of ‘aumakua, a traditio...nal Hawaiian cultural principal that views the fish, animals, birds and plants of our surrounding environment as family guardians, the transformed and personified spirits of ancestors. It is during times of challenge, such as what we together face in the COVID-19 pandemic, that a quiet call to ‘aumakua can give us the inspiration and strength we all need to persevere and endure difficulty and hardship.
