While the day commemorates that engagement, ANZAC stands to honor all Australians and New Zealanders who served their countries throughout history, in both war and peace. Due to COVID-19, the Australian and New Zealand Consulates General will commemorate ANZAC Day by hosting virtual events Sunday, April 25. Happy 114th Birthday, U.S. Pacific Fleet! Today marks the anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet on April 15, 1907. The command has ...maintained and secured America's presence in this vast and vital ocean area for nearly two centuries, providing a stabilizing influence or military force as conditions and the nation's goal demand. The Pacific Fleet's contributions to our Navy's proud heritage date back to 1821, with the establishment of the Pacific Squadron. The Asiatic and Pacific squadrons remained separate until April 15, 1907, when they were combined to form the United States Pacific Fleet. The U.S. Pacific Fleet remains the world's largest naval fleet command, extending from the West Coast of the United States to the Indian Ocean. In total, the Fleet’s area of responsibility encompasses three oceans, six continents, and more than half the Earth's surface. Today, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, stands ready alongside U.S. Pacific Fleet to meet all challenges by maintaining persistent naval forward presence in the #freeandopenindopacific as the Navy-Marine Corps Team. #navalintegration
