We're excited to invite you to join our WFN Regenerative Agriculture Workshop Series Starting June 1st. These on-farm and virtual workshops will support farmers in identifying regenerative agriculture principles and practices they may be using already and assist farmers in monitoring soil health for improvements. A big mahalo to @huaorchards and @kahumanaorganicfarms for hosting our on-farm workshops. Visit our website to register at: https://oahurcd.org/wfn-regenerative-agri...culture-workshops/. We're excited to share how farmers in Hawaii are integrating regenerative practices. Please register for our Summer Soil Health Workshop series at: https://oahurcd.org/wfn-regenerative-agriculture-workshops. We hope you enjoy this video with Sierra Lynn-Stone of SBH Taro Farms as she shares her path in beginning to integrate regenerative practices on her farm. Sierra is a 6th generation wahine kalo farmer. She has recently assumed the farm management role from her grandfather. Watch Sierra’s video to learn how she is focusing on building relationships, tools and resources to begin integrating regenerative practices, starting with soil health testing, water quality testing and increasing biodiversity through crop rotation methods on her farm. Mahalo @sbh_kalo_frm @wakefulstate for your beautiful work on this video. We love it!

Our next #agtourismtuesday spotlight is @opalafoods! Opala Foods is an urban farm specializing in oyster mushrooms. Opala is a Hawaiian word essentially meaning rubbish - the discarded and unwanted. It’s a pretty strange name for a farm but they chose that name sake because they purposefully utilize discarded materials. Opala Foods has partnered with breweries, coffee shops, and arborists to change their waste materials into a high quality, nutrient dense food. You can find their fresh produce and Day Trippers Jerky online and at the KCC and Kakaako Farmers Markets. Mahalo to those that made it out to our 3C’s workshop last week - participants learned about Co-Management, Composting, and Crop/Food Safety at the GoFarm Waialua site in collaboration with UH-CTAHR. Featured best management practices (BMPs) toured on the site included a vegetative barrier, cover crops, windbreaks, and composting. We will be hosting another workshop later this month on Kauai, stay tuned for updates and registration info! Thank you to our partners at GoFarm ...and Hua Orchards!
