Na Wahine O Ke Kai 21.12.2021

Paddling community, I know we are missing being in a canoe with our friends and being in the channel. But we wanted to do something for our community and hope you all can join us in donating to the Hawaii foodbank so that we can help those in need. Please click on the link and donate today. We hope to raise $4,100 in the next two weeks. Hawaii Foodbank Hawaiian Airlines #communityfirst #welovehawaii #paddlingcommunity https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/CFD/NaWahineOKeKai

Aloha kakou! We hope that everyone has weathered through the pandemic and are safe and healthy. Though Na Wahine O Ke Kai 2021 has been cancelled we are working hard to get ready for an amazing Na Wahine O Ke Kai 2022!! We are seeking two or three designs for the Na Wahine O Ke Kai merchandise. The typical products are pareaus, towels, hats, tank tops, hoodies, short and long sleeve shirts. The merchandise is usually made of cotton, tri-blend or dri-fit (for paddling shi...rts). Your artwork must be available in color and high resolution and be representative of Na Wahine O Ke Kai (i.e. wahine, paddling, water, Hawaii, etc.). When creating art for NWOKK merchandise it is helpful that the artist design it with dimensions for a specific type of product and, of course, being a women's race we do prefer the paddlers in the design be female. There is a small honorarium available for the selected submissions as well as all the fame and glory that comes with it. All you artists, get out your paints and paint brushes and submit your amazing designs to [email protected] for consideration. Mahalo!!

2020 Race is Cancelled

Na Wahine O Ke Kai 15.12.2021

The safety of the crews and volunteers is the main priority with Na Wahine O Ke Kai. Race organizers are closely monitoring the developing situation with COVID-19. At this point in time, the race will be held as scheduled. We will email registrars from last year, post on Facebook and post on the website with any updated race status. The Hawaiian Airlines Na Wahine O Ke Kai, the world’s premiere outrigger canoe race for women scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2020, is makin...g two changes to the 2020 race: adding a cut-off time for finishers and removing the Unlimited Division. There are seven divisions in the Hawaiian Airlines Na Wahine O Ke Kai: Open, Masters 40, Masters 50, Masters 55, Masters 60, Junior and Koa. The Unlimited Division was added in 2019 as an exhibition event and was intended to be a trial division. Omitting this division preserves the historical relevance of the elite race as it honors the cultural origins of the wa’a, the Hawaiian racing canoe. Race organizers this year are also adding a cut-off time for finishers. Any canoe that does not finish the race by 4:30 pm on race day will not be allowed to cross the finish line at the Hilton pier at Waikiki Beach. Those crews will be rerouted at the turn buoy to an alternate finishing point. Their finish time will be recorded with an asterisk in the final results. This is to avoid any watercraft traffic at the pier.

Aloha paddlers! Create your home gym paddle simulator and target all your major muscle groups. Band resistance is a great strength building tool, they create i...ncreased tension in your muscles while causing them to contract. More importantly, this is a great technique benefit! Stay tuned for more training tips, and check out Instagram @joe_waa for additional paddling and fitness content. @kialoapaddles @kamanucomposites @vuoriclothing
