From the inner wall of Molokini, the crater floor slopes down ward, which allows for opportunities to snorkel as close as you feel comfortable to the reef.
We've see all ages out enjoying this protected snorkel spot. Blessed!
Happy Monday from the beautiful and mysterious Pacific Ocean!
Whether you choose to explore the Crater while snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, or even kayaking and outrigger canoeing, it shouldn’t be your only thing on the list for the day! https://molokinicrater.com/10-things-you-can-do-in-the-sam/
Think of seals and odds are you’ll picture the craggy coasts of Northern California or the frigid waters of Oregon’s shores. But an exceptional breed of seal prefers sandier banks and warmer climes. https://molokinicrater.com/hawaiian-monk-seal/
I spy Molokini from Ahihi Cove!
#MolokiniCrater is a sunken volcanic crater that sits 2.5 miles off the south coast of Maui, Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean (20 38 1 N, 156 29 50 W). Vessels depart daily from Makena Beach, Kihei Boat Ramp, Maalaea Harbor, and Lahaina Harbor. https://molokinicrater.com/where-is-molokini/
Molokini History: We share the cinder cone being volcanically formed, Molokini used as a popular fishing grounds by ancient Hawaiians, the island bombed by the US military for practice in WWII, and today protected as a Marine Life Conservation District. https://molokinicrater.com/molokini-history/
