FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL ISLANDS UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for Niihau, Ka...uai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe and the Big Island through late tonight. A low west of Kauai will keep the atmosphere moist and unstable ahead of an approaching cold front, maintaining the potential for localized intense rainfall and flash flooding. Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising waters, head to higher ground immediately. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Flash Flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle or on foot.

Flash flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Avoid streams, waterfalls, anywhere there is flowing water. Wear bright clothing so you can be spotted if you become lost. Even if it is not raining where you are, it is raining up in the mountains. A flash flood can happen in mere SECONDS. Please watch the following video. The people who filmed this were extremely lucky they were not harmed: https://youtu.be/1OYNt1fUYes As a business on the Road to Hana, it is my duty to inform my customer...s of these dangers and to tell them to heed the warnings Sadly, the state of Hawaii is not doing enough to warn its visitors of the very real dangers they may encounter on their vacation here. This Flash Flood Watch is in effect on Maui until at least 6pm tomorrow, Friday, March 12th. Stay safe out there and do your due diligence when you plan your Road to Hana journey! #RoadtoHana #Maui #Flood #IslandLife #RainySeason #StaySafe

The Malama Maui County Pledge asks visitors to respect the islands' culture, environment and community. Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) is proud to support the... Malama Maui County Pledge, which is in collaboration with the County of Maui and Visit Maui. As a part of HTA's Maui Nui Destination Management Action Plan, we remain committed to developing and implementing a process whereby visitors acknowledge to protect, respect, and learn about the islands' culture, natural resources, and community during their stay through the pledge.
