Aloha Maui Cultural Lands Volunteers, Thank you for reaching out and making the effort to volunteer at our Malama Honokowai Valley project. We appreciate your efforts to Malama aina (take care of the land). Unfortunately due to the increased risk of COVID within our sacred space, we have made the tough call to suspend our volunteer program until such time we deem it safe for everyone. Stay tuned to our Social Media platforms for any updates. We recommend volunteering at Kipuk...a Olowalu. Volunteer days are every Wednesday and Thursday. Mahalo for your understanding. We wish your families good health and safe travels during these unprecedented times. Mahalo Nui Loa, Edwin Ekolu Lindsey

We want to wish Edwin Ekolu Lindsey a very Happy Birthday today. Ekolu’s love and passion to stabilize, protect, and restore Hawaiian cultural resources are profound. His efforts and actions are unbounded. Ekolu, the son of renowned Maui treasure Ed Lindsey, is carrying the torch of his fathers legacy forward with a foundation in the belief of Olelo No’eau, He ali’i ka’aina, he kauwa ke kanaka, which means The land is chief and we are its servants. He has been on an unforgettable once in a lifetime voyage to Nihoa on Hikianalia ; long time waterman; loving family man; eloquent speaker; strong leader; relentless at doing what he loves- Aloha&Malama. Mahalo Ekolu! #polanuihiucommunity

We want to wish a very happy & beautiful birthday to Puanani!! She embodies the spirit of Aloha. Her hospitality and generous personality indicate, people are at the forefront of Puanani's life. In an interview, she shares : Life is about 'ohana, or family," she explains. "And 'ohana can be described in many different ways: blood relations and people you hold close to your heart. We mlama, or take care of properly, these relationships and help each other to evolve and be...come better people to create a better world." She loves meeting new people, exploring new places, and sharing alohalove and compassion! A tradition that she and Ed started years ago was to invite visitor volunteers to their home following a good day's work at Honokowai. We wanted to share the spirit of aloha with them," Puanani said. "And the whole idea behind that is no matter where you come from, you take the spirit back. You take the spirit of aloha back to where you come from and you share it with others." With the pandemic, this tradition has been temporarily suspended. But her spirit never ceases. Puanani-We thank you for all you do!
