Almost 80% of what a child learns in schol is presented visually. Good vision is essential to learning. Yet studies show only 31% of children between the ages of 6 and 16 have an annyal eye exam. And 70% of children under 6 years, the age at which most vision problems can be treated before permanent damage occurs, have never had an eye exam. Some 20 million children will go back to school this year with a vision problem that may interfere with their ability to learn. Every child should have a comprehensive eye exam.

A new, revolutionary lens will launch, effective May 1, 2012. Transitions Vantage is the first and only variable polarized lens. The lens is clear and not polarized indoors; ouside the lens darkens and polarizes. Transitions Vantage will have a variable level of polarization depending on the amount of UV exposure. Tears are essential for good eye health. Tears lubricate the eye, protect it from disease and wash away allergens. With Dry Eye Syndrome, the eyes don't produce enough tears or tears are of poor quality and evaporate quickly,leaving the surface dry. Everyone experiences reduced tear production as they age, but women are more prone to dry eyes than men by 3:1. Hormone therapy, birth control pills, blood pressure medicines, antihistamines and certain anti depressants can increase incidence of dry eyes.
