Tonya comes to us as a Family Practice APRN. Originally from Texas, Tonya is brand new to Hawaii and eager to engage with the island, cultures, and people who live here. She'll be working full-time to continue providing you with excellent and effective care.

The Lavender Clinic has done everything we can to survive and thrive and even offer more services like free confidential HIV testing and Gender Diversity training for organizations large and small. We don't ask for donations often as we try to find other ways to ...make ends meet, but this is a tougher time for us than many people realize. We hope we are doing enough good to justify our existence, but it's hard to know. We take home with us every mistake we make because everything we do affects real people. Please help us in welcoming the newest member to The Lavender Clinic team, Katie Atwell! Katie discovered a passion for systems biology while attending the Alabama School of Math and Science, a college prep boarding school (where she also met her future husband!). She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University. During her tenure as an undergraduate student at Mississippi State University, she served as the Gamma Zeta ...chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha's Director of Member Enrichment. While serving in this leadership capacity, she experienced health and wellness programming for the first time. With the marriage of her knowledge of the human body to behavior science, something clicked, and she fell in love and saw a career that she could be passionate about for the first time. She then continued her education by obtaining her Master of Science in Health Promotion from Mississippi State. She chose to focus on complimentary and alternative medicine strategies to reduce health disparities in under-served populations during her course work. She has furthered her commitment to the field of health education by becoming a Certified Health Education Specialist. Katie has been blessed to serve in leadership roles at a number of well-known integrative/holistic medicine clinics in Alabama and Georgia. Katie is married to a Naval Flight Surgeon, and together they have a Boston Terrier named Mosby. Outside of the office, Katie enjoys yoga, hiking, cooking, and reading.
