How my journey began, This is @juliana_colpas She has had the soul of the Ocean in her heart at a very young age, but at the Time she was a toddler, I was also caring for a Infant, we lived at the beach from early morning til sunset. I have always tried to use Reef Safe sunscreen for them, after all, our skin is the biggest Organ on our body that absorbs everything. Here I am, thinking I was doing everything right as a new parent. Little did I know, those Beautiful Orga...nic labeled bottles were all falsely labeled. The one I used the most was @albabotanica Found it at most Farmer’s Market. Who would of known I was putting such toxic Ingredients on my kids and also Was harming our precious eco system?! I looked for any organic sunscreen, was a mission and also expensive. There wasn’t anyone on the West side of Maui that I knew of And No one had big sticks that were easily applicable instead of those stinky sprays that are awful for anyone surrounding you on the beach or down wind. That’s when I decided I needed to make my own ( we were going through a sunscreen a week) I did tons of research on all the different ingredients as raw as I can go. Spoke to Hormone specialist, Eco specialist & learned a lot from different non profits locally as well from surrounding islands. I’ve attended different markets on the island from Kahului to Napili. I’ve collected lots of toxic sunscreens and used them as displays to educate locals and tourist going on 6 years now. It’s been an amazing experience and also helped my daughter accomplish her dreams and giving her the tools to also educate those around her in her community. It’s been an amazing ride to be able to meet so many people from all over and teaching my kids to always speak what’s important to them. The Ocean has provided us with a dream, a Love, a stoke that is so unexplainable. We need to give back to Mother Nature and Show her as much respect as she gives us!
