Leo knows firsthand just how well practice can serve us all. He is a dedicated soccer player who practices 4-5 days a week in addition to playing his club games and traveling for tournaments. He feels that his Kumon routine has helped him to learn how to manage his time effectively and has proven to him that hard work and practice do result in success. The consistency of Kumon also allowed him the opportunity to study Math above grade level in school. Leo was one of 100 stude...nts from Canada, USA, and Mexico selected to attend the Virtual Kumon Student Conference in 2020 and he is motivated by the success stories of former Kumon Students. Leo's words of advice to other students are: Persevere! Although it's tough sometimes, believe in yourself and your abilities." When Leo isn’t on the soccer field or working on his math skills, he enjoys volunteering, working with animals, and traveling the world to experience different cultures.

Meet Thanvee. She enrolled in the Kumon Math Program at 4 years old and has continued for the past 9 years. She’s currently an 8th grader who studies ahead of her grade level thanks to the skills Kumon has taught her. While there are moments when the worksheets present challenges, she has built the confidence to continue learning how to solve new problems. Thanvee’s words of advice to new Kumon Students: Even though it gets hard and you may not feel motivated to do it someti...mes, stick with it because it will help you in the long run." Due to her perseverance and hard work, Thanvee was one of under 200 students selected from Canada, USA, and Mexico to attend the 2020 Kumon Student Conference. Thanvee also credits Kumon for teaching her the importance of consistency. Practicing is an important part of success, which has helped her in activities such as dance, volleyball, horse riding, and Tae-Kwon-Do.

Meet Michael. When he enrolled in the Kumon Math Program four years ago he began at Level A focusing on addition and subtraction. He has continued to work through the upper levels and is currently on Level N which focuses on developing the skills of working with sequences, limits, and differentiation. Although challenges do come up, Michael strives to work through them. "Kumon has helped me have more patience with things that take a lot of time. It has helped me persevere and not give up on things that are hard," said Michael. Michael's perseverance has also led him to be a talented musician in which he plays the violin, cello, and trumpet. Additionally, he's passionate about Taekwondo in which he's won various 1st place trophies and is currently a Taekwondo 3rd Degree Black Belt.

Meet Brook. Brook enrolled in the Kumon Math Program seven years ago. Since then, he has been able to learn and grow in so many ways. Kumon has helped him gain strong problem-solving skills that he can apply inside and outside of the classroom. When he is not doing his Kumon, he enjoys robotics, basketball, bike riding, reading, and serving his community through Sunday service as a deacon. Brook says, The most beneficial thing that I have learned from Kumon is that the majority of the problems that come at you will not be easy to solve and you must have the mindset to figure out the solution no matter how long it takes. Due to his courage and hard work, Brook was one of 155 students selected from Canada, USA, and Mexico to attend the 2020 Kumon Student Conference.

Congratulations to former Kumon Student and Paralympian Mikaela Jenkins for winning 2 gold medals at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics this past August! One of the Kumon Math and Reading Program's main goals for students is to help them excel in academics so that they can dedicate extra time to their passions outside of the classroom. After Mikaela's time attending Kumon of Newburgh in Indiana with Instructor Sanju Jairath, she was able to do just that. This goes to show that the sky is truly the limit for all Kumon Students.
