I know we are only in April, but lets talk holiday sessions. Looking at my calendar, I'll be slammed with newborns. So I'll be limiting my holiday slots, again. The goal is to start them earlier this year so that I can offer more dates. But as an FYI, after the summer, I only photograph large groups, ie Collection 3 or minis/half sessions. Family session bookings (Collection 1 or 2) will not be accepted from August-December this year. Minis and half sessions are booked through the email that I send to all of the clients who have already had a session with me, they will be offered from around August-December. And also, I love this family. I'm so happy I got to see them this year on their annual Maui trip. #kcpstudios #mauifamilyphotographer #mauifamilyphotography

Connected from the beginning. Connected still. Brothers, first sharing a womb, then a family, witnessing each other's life and finishing up their school years to start their next journey into adulthood. #highschoolseniorsmaui #mauiportraitphotographer #mauiportraitphotography

Indoor 1 year sessions have been fun! I can almost always fit them into my schedule since they take place way before sunset, no need to worry about the weather, we have use of all my props and no grass in the cake! #kcpstudios #mauichildphotographer #mauichildphotography

High school seniors this and last year are giving up so much. Your losses do not go unnoticed. When I did Hunter's session she was so happy and springing with excitement, despite not being able to use her gown to prom; this or last year. Maybe or maybe not having a graduation ceremony. Missing out on her last year of track and field. I admire this class so much, because despite their senior year being taken from them, they are all holding their heads so high... Being negative only makes a difficult journey more difficult. You may be given a cactus, but you don’t have to sit on it. Joyce Meyer #highschoolseniormaui #mauiportraits

Momma calls her a Viking. She was born before sunrise, on Haleakala Highway, in her momma's truck, delivered by her daddy. I'd say that's appropriate. Meet Scout Brady: almost 1 month fresh. #kcpstudios #mauinewbornphotographer #mauinewbornphotography

The best location for a senior session is.....whatever is in their element. #kcpstudios #mauiportraitphotographer #highschoolseniorsmaui

Back at home base. I've been rotating weeks of photographing babies, after the crazy 10 months of testing and locking myself up while photographing babies back-to-back for a week each month. I'm almost back to regularly scheduled newborn sessions. As in not piling them all in a week. I'm fully vaccinated and I feel like I have an extra layer of protection (my choice; you do you), so while I still test, its not as chronic as it was for the last year. I'm still masked, KN95, and also, I'm still snuggling babies, I just haven't snuck any kisses in over a year. #kcpstudios #mauinewbornphotography #mauinewbornphotographer

If you're gonna eat cake, eat it like Lele does.

Kristy Copperfield Photography 10.12.2021

I might need to ban cake smashes because I immediately want cake, both after the session and then again after I edit. Oaklee makes this cake look extra good. Momma brought all the cute things to dress her little sweetie in! Katey Adolf

I photographed 111 babies in the year 2020. And about 80 of those babies took place post pandemic. I never realized how much I took for granted prior to the pandemic, yes that's the theme of the year, I know, nothing new. Never did I think I would be obsessed with getting tested for a virus. Never did I think I would get used to wearing 2 masks during a shoot. Never did I think I would feel a constant state of unease in my job. I can no longer keep track of the amount of test...s Ive taken. I now welcome the nose violation knowing that I'll have peace of mind... for a short time...Never did I think I would willingly quarantine myself to the house for a week while photographing babies back to back, 7 days in a row. Or that I would miss going to the grocery store, miss hugging my mom or that I would crave a concert, I don't even remember the last concert I went to. But my new norms are waiting in the parking lot of a testing site an hour before they open (they all know me since I'm there 1-2 times per week), and using a KN95 mask with a mask over it, in a hot room for 3-7 hours per day. Yes, I know that many many people have it way way worse, I know this. I do, I appreciate many things. Like my ability to work during a time when small businesses are closing left and right. I appreciate that I have very minimal exposure in my tiny corner of Maui and that I have clients who are more than willing to comply with the new norm of mask wearing and social distancing (I'm very thankful for you all). Its just, looking back at 2020, all I can feel is exhaustion. Holding back the tears is so damn hard sometimes. But I feel like this is so close to being done that I can almost see the fire from the burn-the-mask party. 2020 made me the tiredest tired in tired town. But 2021 has so much hope and I am so here for it, I have my outfits ready to go. Speaking of hope, here's my newest nephew. Meet Manao: 8 days fresh. And my last baby of 2020. See more

Hi! This is actually me, Kristy. No, this isn't quarantine hair, its extensions thanks to Kayla, and they are my favorite thing from 2020. Taking these photos felt weird. Its weird to be in front of the camera. If I'm not shooting or editing, my dream is to lay out by a pool--even if its a kiddie pool. I tried to build myself a pool last year but it didn't work out. So I dream.....I do have a hot tub though, so at least I can submerge myself, but not my hair. I also love Cro...ssFit Upcountry Maui for 2 reasons, so that I can eat what I want, and because I love the crew there. When I travel, I love to hang out with friends and family, I loathe doing touristy things, but I put up with it so everyone else can enjoy. At home, hanging out with family and friends brings me joy (and playing BINGO thanks to my 93 year old grama--not a typo). I also enjoy walking steep hills at sunset and once lied to my friends and told them the windmill hike was 3 miles, its actually 6. They still talk about that and have stopped believing me, so no one wants to walk hills with me. But they always reply when I suggest pizza and MaiTais. Weirdos. To be fair, I meant 3 miles UP. Oh, I also photograph babies tiny and big, kids birth through high school, and families...but you all know that. When you see me in public, say hey! See more

RE: Newborn photos. They take place in the 2-6 weeks range, preferably 2 weeks. I did the 4-6 week buffer simply because of COVID, and safety. Now that things are sort of leveling out and I'm feeling safer around babies, I'm starting to move back toward the 2 week age. So, its super important to get on my books in your THIRD trimester. I've been having an influx of mommas calling me with a 1 month old baby....at that point I don't really have any wiggle in my schedule to get ...a baby into studio within 2 weeks. 4-6 weekers aren't nearly as sleepy or as bendy as a 2 weeker, but it definitely still works; Aycen here is a month old. May and July are pretty stacked and I'm currently waiting on 11 April babies to be born, so yes, priority goes to those who are already on my books. Best way to book? EMAIL ME. DMs while very modern and quick, they get buried....deep. If you email me, you're more likely to get a response within 24 hours during the week and 48 on the weekends. Oh, and I'll be traveling in June so I have just a few limited spots left. Happy Friday! #kcpstudios #mauinewbornphotographer #mauinewbornphotography See more

ATTENTION: Change in plans. Switching my travel plans from June to July. SO I have just 2 July newborn openings left. MAY is almost fully booked and JUNE has about 6 more openings. Meet Reign: just about 1 month fresh. #kcpstudios #mauinewbornphotographer #mauinewbornphotography
