Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series 23.12.2021

SeaView higher res file imaging the currents and sea surface temps in the lee of the Big Island. The red areas are about 78 and dark blue 74. This is cooler than our summer tournament season. Lots of file versions to choose from in SeaView. Still learning. Reports from the boats say it appears pretty accurate to what they are experiencing out there today. https://www.seaviewfishing.com/AboutSVSPORT.html... https://konatournaments.com

From the measurements about 948 pounds. Good story. Big fish outside usually become big fish inside, sooner or later.

Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series 13.12.2021

The Lazy Marlin Hunt - a unique tournament targeting marlin 500 pounds and bigger - fishes this weekend in Kona - April 9, 10 and 11. There was a fish just under 700 weighed yesterday, an 890 on March 26 along with many others over 500 in recent weeks. The odds on Kona producing some of our legendary monsters this weekend are high! The spearfish (marlin candy) are in, the trades are blowing and there is no cold front on the horizon to upset the conditions. We know of 17 team...s so far, and could go over 20. Everything is shaping up well! Although life around here seems pretty much back to normal, special events still need to comply with covid mitigation protocols, so we continue to urge everyone to enter in advance, and not wait til the last minute. We have 3 remote entry systems: an online key in system with payment by credit card or check, a printable PDF entry form you can print out, photo and submit and then call on the phone to process a credit card payment or; print and submit with a check by mail. We have a "self check in station" on our website where you can print out fish catch forms, rules and any/all the other documents you need. It is entirely possible now to enter and start fishing and never even see us...:) We will be taking last minute walk up entries at the Kona Charter Desk in the afternoons on Thursday and Friday. Once your base entry is paid, we will email you a link to a secure page on our website so you can watch the team list and spreadsheet populate in real time, from the comfort of your boat, home, hotel, what have you. Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series 09.12.2021

What an "interesting" season 2020 was! Congrats to Wild Hooker and angler Guy Arrington. Last Chance and Chad Beaudry gave them a run for their money and a number of Big fish were caught by other contenders too. The 2021 HMT Series season is scheduled like "normal". We'll see if it stays that way...lol. konatournaments.com

Lazy Marlin Hunt Day Two - final catch report. Snafu lost a decent one after almost an hour and Marlin Magic II lost one after about 20 minutes and Kona Dream lost a qualifier on the morning tide. It's not how you start it's how you finish and tomorrow is a full 9 hours of fishing -- and - it's Kona. There won't be many but there will be more.... https://konatournaments.com

Lazy Marlin Hunt day two eye from the sky. April 10 SeaView image of Big Island currents over salinity. I don't know about the salinity part but the currents are not what we "usually" want to see. Hopefully, conditions get better - or - the fish don't care. Good luck out there. https://konatournaments.com

The winner of the Lazy Marlin Hunt will get a complimentary 6 month subscription to SeaView Fishing Sport version of their satellite ocean imaging system. A $567 value. This is a picture of the currents in the lee of the Kona Coast today. The system is much more powerful than I am versed with using it so far, and there are high res features you can use to drill down in specific areas. This image shows the "Kona Gyre" in the top left and corresponding currents from the eddy, a...nd those wind drive by the trade winds. What this means in order to find a fish is up to every Captain's interpretation, but if you know how Kona works, a tool like this can at least get you close. https://www.seaviewfishing.com https://konatournaments.com
