From Most Reverend Clarence (Larry) Silva Bishop of Honolulu INVITATION FROM POPE FRANCIS TO WORLDWIDE PRAYER:... To plead to the Lord for a speedy end to the current worldwide pandemic, Pope Francis invites all to join with him in prayer on Friday, March 27, 7:00 a.m. Hawaii Time (6:00 p.m. Rome time). The Holy Father will conduct a prayer service for all the world at St. Peter’s Basilica, which will include Scripture readings, prayers, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. He will conclude with the Urbi et Orbi Blessing (to the city of Rome and to the world), which is normally only given at Easter and Christmas. A special indulgence is connected to this blessing. You can join in this prayer service via EWTN Catholic television network or other media portals.

Finally was able to get to Wifi and upload this special message to a true mentor and inspiration to our council 14620. Melvin Tom your away attending a wedding and we know you would have wanted to be here personally to receive this honor. Uncle Mel was honored last night by the Hawaii State Council for his long service to our fraternity. A member since 2010, he served as Grand Knight of our council for two years instilling good practices and governance that continues to benef...it our group till today. He served as Faithful Navigator of the 1577 Assembly and in both the council and the assembly established a partnership with IHS and the Transitional Veterans Home in Kalihi. Helping Vets get off the street and back to productive lifestyles in our community. His list of accomplishments is long and his positive impact on the community at large is significant through his work as a Knight, an Elk, a Lion and his efforts with VFW. Last night at the 40th Annual KofC State Convention, Mel was honored with the KNIGHT OF THE YEAR AWARD. The very first time a Knight from St. Ann’s has been recognized with this honor. Congratulations Uncle Mel! A group of us gathered last night to send our love and Aloha to you, present in this group are the Rabideau ohana who was also recognized as FAMILY OF THE YEAR! 14620 is so proud of both you and the Rabideau’s-God is Good... We will see you back home and have a proper presentation... maybe we will celebrate with some Portuguese wine! Safe travels home to you and Aunty Linda Tom!

Pope Calls for World to Pray the Luminous Mysteries at 10:00 am HST March 19, 2020 To all in the Diocese of Honolulu: Aloha! Happy Feast Day of St. Joseph!... I apologize for the short notice, but it has just come to my attention that Pope Francis, in his Wednesday General Audience, has asked everyone in the world to join him in praying the Luminous Mysteries of the rosary today at 9:00 p.m. Rome time, which would be 10:00 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time, from wherever you are. If you are not able to do so at that time, perhaps you can do so at another time today. See more below. Every family, every member of the faithful, every religious community: All of us spiritually united (Thursday, March 19, 2020, 10:00 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time) in praying the Rosary, the Luminous Mysteries. Mary Mother of God, and Health of the Sick, to whom we direct the Rosary, under the loving gaze of St. Joseph, Protector of the Holy Family, and our families brings us to the luminous and transfigured Face of Christ and his Heart. And we ask that he especially protect our families, in particular the sick and those who care for them: doctors, nurses, and volunteers, who risk their lives in this service. The Holy Father also spoke about St. Joseph: In life, in work, in family, in joy and sorrow, he always sought and loved the Lord, making himself deserving of the praise the Scriptures give him: a just and wise man. Call on him always, especially in difficult times, and entrust your lives to this great saint. The Luminous Mysteries are: The Baptism of the Lord The Wedding Feast at Cana The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God The Transfiguration The Institution of the Eucharist Blessings to you all! + Bishop Larry Silva
