Happy Halloween

Having a group picnic at Pine Trees Beach and watching the sunset. Notice the plane high up in the sky heading to Oahu.

Some people like to drive their pickups up the mountain to load up on snow because it never snows at the lower elevations. They take this snow home or to the beach to build snowmen. The snow starts melting on the way home since it is a long drive while going from 20 degree f on the mountain to 80 degrees f at the beach.

Snow in Hawaii? Yes, it happens on the tops of volcanoes. Earth's most massive mountain, Mauna Loa, had snow on the peak at 13,600 feet.

With the "vog" (volcano fog), the sunsets are gorgeous.

Kilauea is at it again. Pictures from October and what it looks like now. Check out the video: https://www.facebook.com/100000625741264/videos/3857804474250373/ The vog stretches all the way around the south end of the island and comes up the west side to Kona. Visiblity is low, but the sunsets are bright red.
