Howzit! Still pretty jet lagged from traveling this past week. We spent a few days eating our way through Japan and then got to spend some time in Hilo with ohana - but I’m back and ready to tackle another week! There’s been so much loss over the last week and I’m reminded how truly short life is and to cherish the times I get to spend with my loved ones. Whenever I get to spend time with Tutu & Papa, one of them will always bring out their music book and pick songs they want to hear. Mom by Lena Machado is one of those songs that Tutu will choose every single time.

Aloha! While I’ve never been one to make a resolution for the New Year, I decided that this is the year I would focus on keeping my music page updated. I hope to share new covers and original music I’ve been working on, as well as keep you all up to date with any upcoming events you can catch me jamming at. In honor of my first post, I decided to throw it back to when I had the opportunity to jam with the guys over at Hawaii Music Supply and record my cover of Mary Kawena Pukui & Maddy K Lam’s Ka Lehua I Milia. This song was also my first recorded single I was blessed to have produced by my mentor, Uncle Todd Kalani Adamski, before he passed away in August 2017. You can download my single on platforms like iTunes, GooglePlay, and Amazon Music. Mahalo for your support!

Quarantine got me at home feeling very lazy except when near an instrument I feel the need to strum a few chords and play a song or two! Heres one by Kuana Torres Kahele named Pololehoonalani one of my favorites by him. Oddly so, when I ever I hear a song by Kuana I always tink of Sam Kaina Robert J. K. Reed and Daniel Nihipali Jr.

With all thats been going on with current events I can understand how it can be difficult to see the light in such a situation. How ever, theres always something positive to be found among the most hardest of times! Its our resolve in these situations that can lead us to something or a purpose in which we may have never seen or thought before... I hope we all find the greater good in a time like now... Heres a song that I was gonna wait until next month to post but I figure since everyone is at home these days... Ill post em up early! Hope you all have a blessed day! Me kealoha pumehana Kkou! I have a love/hate relationship with this song! I love this song but I don’t like covering it because there’s so many good covers of this song that I feel like I could never do it justice in anyway but I have to remember that as a musician I have the power to shape a song to a point where it works for me! And that’s the beauty of music! As long as you know your own Idenity and do your homework.... Any song is almost like an open canvas waiting to be shaped to who ever spends time with it! Happy Aloha Sunday! #KapilielaKala #Kalaohana #Valerie
