Starting tomorrow morning we’re opening for Breakfast and Lunch from 7am-2pm daily for takeout! You can order online at Kalaheo.com or call us at 332-5858. We’ll have all of our pastry goodies ready for ya! Thank you everyone for your support! We’re so excited to get back to serving our community!

John and Kris (not pictured) Ferguson have managed to create one of Kauai’s most treasured cafe’s nestled in the heart of upcountry Kalaheo. The couple have a l...ong history in the Food and Beverage Industry, John says We met over food and we work over food. - John’s journey as a chef on Kaua’i started out at the Waiohai as their Executive Chef. He then later went to work at Waimea Plantation - 5 weeks after its grand opening Hurricane Iniki hit. Both devastating and deadly, the effects of the hurricane made finding work for many, a hard task to do. Despite the challenges of the Hurricane, John said he and his wife didn’t want to leave the island. On a trip to Oahu, John visited his brother’s coffee shop in Aiea, the visit was what inspired them to create Kalaheo Cafe. - The couple opened Kalaheo Cafe in 1994, in a small space up the street from their current Kalaheo location. No bigger than 900 sq. ft. this small space was where the Bagel Benny was born. The couple had enough space for one 2 door fridge and one 2 door freezer in their cafe, with limited space available for produce and English muffins needing to be bought in bulk, something had to give. And fortunately for all our Bagel Benny lovers, it was the English muffins. He said we already had bagels, so we thought why not just use a bagel? And called it, the Bagel Benny. Sometimes, the best ideas form when you have to work with what you got. - Although the amazing food is what brings people in, it’s not the only reason. We believe it’s the fun and friendly atmosphere is what keep customers coming back time and time again. On May 14th 1994 Kalaheo Cafe & Coffee Co opened. For 26 years we have been serving our community and ohana. It’s only fitting to announce today we’re reopening (for takeout only) on Thursday May 21st! We are so excited to get back into it and see all your masked faces. Now more than ever we are focused on improved sanitation procedures to ensure safety for you and our staff. We are offering online ordering and can bring it out to your car if you’d like.
