In our final post of the series, we share 2020 bright spots and hopes for 2021 from our grantee Special Olympics Hawaii 2020 certainly presented the most complex and difficult personal and professional challenges many of us have ever faced. At the same time, out of 2020 came stories of resilience, neighbors helping neighbors, and people and organizations stepping up and coming together like never before. As we approach the one-year mark of the arrival of the coronavirus pande...mic in Hawaii, we wanted to look back at uplifting moments from the past year and check in to see what our grantees are hoping for in 2021. Here are a few insights from Special Olympics Hawaii. Check out the link below! #nonprofitsmatter #2020brightspots #2021lookingahead https://www.hthayashifoundation.org//2020-bright-spots-lo/

H.T. Hayashi Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to support Read To Me International, an organization that promotes reading aloud to children within underserved communities in Hawaii. Read To Me International provides parent coaching, family engagement, and community outreach to help keiki succeed in and outside of the classroom. We caught up with Nicki Brown, program & community outreach director for Read To Me International, to find out more about RTM’s exciting events planned for this year, their programs and to learn where she finds the biggest inspiration for her work. Read all about it on our website - https://www.hthayashifoundation.org//three-questions-with/

Today is a day to celebrate and remember the life of Herbert Takami "H.T." Hayashi. Happy Birthday H.T.! Established in 2005, the H.T. Hayashi Foundation reflects the legacy of visionary hotelier and philanthropist Herbert Takami H.T. Hayashi. From humble beginnings on Kauai, H.T. became a self-made entrepreneur who expressed deep compassion and understanding. He believed in everyone’s ability, regardless of their background, to rise above their circumstances and change th...eir lives for the better. His unique vision led to the creation of the Pagoda Hotel and floating restaurant, complete with a koi pond that was made available to the public. His courage and perseverance to do what people said could not be done continued with the Pacific Beach Hotel with its one-of-a-kind oceanarium. H.T. created economic opportunities for the people of Hawaii and unforgettable experiences for visitors from around the world. He also instilled the values of compassion and humble integrity in his children, who continue their father’s legacy through their deep commitment to the foundation and its investment in arts and culture, human development, environmental conservation and economic security. With a particular focus on programs that serve women, children and the elderly, the foundation helps to increase self-sufficiency and quality of life for the people of Hawaii. See more
