It's been a long couple days, but New Normal is up at The ARTS at Marks! Many thanks to the amazing exhibition team of Tracy, Rose, Carlynn, and Matthew for leading the setup. We'd also like to send a special shoutout to the big bottle of whiskey in the fridge at Marks; you really came through for us, buddy. Catch this contemporary photography exhibition from now through the end of the year at Marks Garage. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 pm, and you'll also be able to peruse the entire show online (or purchase photos you want!) in a few days. Otherwise, stay tuned to our social media and Marks Garage for special announcements about our judges for this exhibition, the incredible sponsors who made this show a reality, and other cool stuff. Don't miss it!

Many thanks to everyone who submitted work for "New Normal," a curated exhibition of contemporary photography taken in Hawaii during the coronavirus pandemic; we received more than 150 images from nearly 80 local photographers! We're now currently in the process of selecting pieces and installing the show, which will be on display at The ARTS at Marks Garage from November 17 through December 30. Want to learn more? Visit artsatmarks.com/newnormal for details about the exhibit, upcoming (socially-distanced) events, sweet prizes, and other rad news. We hope to see you at the show! In the meantime, keep those masks on your faces and wash your hands nonstop

Dang! This beautiful display was provided by Bobby Asato and the film photo pros at Treehouse; as much as we'd love to keep these cameras as early Christmas presents for ourselves, we're giving them all away. They're prizes for photographers in our "New Normal" exhibition at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Big thanks to Treehouse for these amazing goodies! A few awesome local judges are selecting their favorite images from the show and their picks will score a swanky new camerawe'll share the results and who wins what in a few days. Didn't participate in the show, but want to purchase one of these sweet babies anyway? Head to Treehouse at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako to finish your holiday shopping. It's the best place to snag gifts for your loved ones (or just yourself, no shame)

Here's a preview of the official art for "New Normal," with a powerful image by Anthony Consillio and rad design by Clifford Cheng! Many thanks to these creative heavyweights for lending their talents to this photo exhibit. The goal was to present a street scene that appears normal at first glance. But the man on the bench isn't just waiting, he's weary. His mask matches his bench, and the guy is surrounded by darkness in the middle of the day. Look at the logo and you'll not...ice that "the curves are not quite smooth, points aren't really points, and some of the terminals are funky," muses Cheng. "We're living in a world that's familiar but very different. Basically, what life has been like during the pandemic." Mahalo Cliff and Tony!
