As per CDC recommendations, and Hawaii's Governor Ige, we are temporarily closed for two weeks to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Please contact us by phone, text, or email to reschedule. We are continuing care through telemedicine via Chiron telemedicine or HMSA OnlineCare, phone, text and email. SAVE LIVES, STAY HOME. SAVE LIVES, STAY HOME.... The five easy steps to slow the spread of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus: 1 - Hands. Wash them often. (I carry a small kitchen towel, refillable bottle of tap water, and small bar of soap in a plastic cup to use as needed for any trips away from home. Even I cannot find hand sanitizer, but soap and water work BETTER!) 2- Elbow. Cough into it 3- Face. Don't touch it 4- Feet. Stay more than SIX FEET apart from others 5- Feel sick? Stay home if possible. Avoid spreading of virus. Let us COME TOGETHER TO SAVE our kupuna (elders), loved ones, those with chronic illness or weakened immunity, and island community BY STAYING APART! Remember to SHARE with those unable to shop, collect supplies, cook. Carefulness and kindness will see us through this. Complacency can kill. MAHALO!
Don't forget: Flu vaccine by Halloween! There are indications this influenza season may come earlier than usual, so go to your PCP or pharmacy sooner rather than later.
Rapid and reliable testing, excellent contact tracing, and subsidized quarantine as needed, are essential to relax necessary pandemic control measures. Economies can recover. You can't if you are dead.
The diet and nutrition data has been converging on this for the past decade. I hope this comprehensive study helps turn the tide.....

The new influenza vaccine for 2020-21 season is now available, and recommended for everyone that does not have any contraindication to receive it. I received it (Fluzone, Sanofi-Pasteur, quadravalent, regular strength) myself last night at Kona CVS just before they closed without any wait, problem, and the pharmacist showed good technique.
A plague . . . tests us in unique ways. . . . Only if you can face the invisible bullets all around us, and still keep calm, remain rational, and somehow find it possible to take pleasure in life, have you learned the lesson that [The Nature of Things] set out to teach. Stephen Greenblatt, The New Yorker
To come together as a community, protect our loved ones and most vulnerable, we MUST stay apart. Mahalo!
I love my family and friends so much that I can keep them safe and skip seeing them this one holiday season. Then I can look forward to seeing them many future holidays!
To protect our patients and staff, all non-essential and follow-up visits after March 11, 2020 will be done only by phone or tele-medicine whenever possible. We will still be available via phone, text, email for follow-up visits, advice, refills. New patients and consults will still be seen in person as long as we continue to have personal protective equipment available. Special arrangements will be made to continue essential immunotherapy services.... Thank you for helping protect our most vulnerable patients, as well as you, your loved ones, friends, and elders in the community. We can get through, and not have our health system fail, with careful concerted efforts by everyone, and aloha for each other. Go to https://www.flattenthecurve.com for good information and advice about this dangerous pandemic. Mahalo!
The circulating COVID-19 virus is a serious health threat. Complacency is leading to exploding epidemics around the globe. Please prepare now. See https://www.flattenthecurve.com for specific information and advice. All nonessential medical visits should be rescheduled, or moved to telemedicine visits, to protect you, your loved ones who may be at risk, and our staff.... If you become ill with a respiratory infection, please do NOT go to the emergency room or hospital or your physician's office, but call there for advice first. This will protect others and you from possibly catching COVID-19 if you do not have it. See https://www.flattenthecurve.com for specific information and advice.
