Let’s be serious for a minute. Let’s talk about the kids On any given day, there are nearly 424,000 children in foster care in the United States. In 2019, over 672,000 children spent time in U.S. foster care. On average, children remain in state care for over a year and a half, and five percent of children in foster care have languished there for five or more years. People always say I could never be a foster parent, it would be too hard. Well, let’s think about how the... kids feel. And guess what? You don’t have to be a foster parent to help. There are so many ways to get involved! You could be a mentor, a respite caretaker, or you could do something simple like fill a backpack with necessities for a child who goes into foster care. This gives them something of their own, a little comfort during one of the hardest things to experience. Come by the bar and grab a bag, if it’s too much get a few people to help fill it.
