Some exciting limu news! 2022, The Year of the Limu There are four resolutions in this year's legislature for our "Year of the Limu" proposal. The two House re...solutions are HCR74 and HR63 and the two Senate resolutions are SR60 and SCR135. All four resolutions are identical but please submit testimony to all four. Written testimony should be submitted 24 hours before the scheduled hearing. SCR135, HCR74 and HR63 have not yet scheduled a hearing but you can submit written testimony. I will post a notice when those hearings are scheduled. SR60 has just scheduled a hearing for Monday, 3/15/2021, 1:00 pm via videoconference. To submit written testimony and to sign up for videoconference testimony, go to the State Legislature website, register if you have not already done so or sign in if you have, then search for "Year of the Limu". Mahalo Nui to Representative Matt LoPresti and Senator Kurt Fevella for introducing this Resolution. They represent to Ewa/Kapolei District and both jumped on our request to have 2022 declared the Year of the Limu. Both knew Uncle Henry Chang Wo and knew of his efforts to teach about and create awareness of the importance of limu. This Resolution will go a long way to carry on Uncle Henry’s legacy. Direct link to measure: https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx General link to Hawaii State Legislature page: https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov Step 1: Register for a free account in the upper right corner Step 2: Once you’re registered and logged in, find the blue Bill Status/Measure Status button on the left and type in the number for this one, it’s SR60 then click GO Step 3: You’ll be taken to the page with all the details about the resolution. You’ll see a blue button near the top middle that says Submit Testimony. Click it. Step 4: A new page will pop up that shows you info about submitting testimony in general. On the left upper side of that screen, there’s a black and grey box where you will need to enter the measure number again sometimes it’s automatically there for you click Continue Step 5: Here we go! Enter your name. Click your position in this case, click Support. The next section asks if you are testifying as an individual or on behalf of an organization. Click whichever is appropriate for you. Next, how do you want to testify? You can choose Remote (live on Zoom) or you can choose Written Only which is what most folks do unless they are really compelled to testify in person. If choosing written, enter your testimony in the box in the following section. There’s also a choose file option if you would like to attach testimony you’ve written in a document. Step 6: CLICK SUBMIT when you’re done! It’s the blue button at the bottom of the page. You did it!! This is the same process for all sorts of bills and resolutions being heard now! Stay involved! Your voice matters!
