Pacific Rim Divers Limited

Here it is, a very cool high technology sailboat traveling around the world. Stopped in Kona for a few days then next stop Tokyo for the summer Olympic Games. It has solar and it uses ocean water that it converts into hydrogen to fuel it’s motors. Uses all alternative energy.

I’m Fun morning so far, as you may know Hawaiian monk seals are very rare. We saw two this morning playing together by shore. We called one of our friends who is a monk seal volunteer and she happened to be on duty a few miles away. She came and verified our sighing and took this picture. On the left of the lava rock in foreground in the water is the smaller 2 1/2 year old male on the right side is 5 year old female. In the background is our beautiful boat the Boundless, behind us is the fish farm cages. Thanks, Diane

I watched again tonight a documentary from 2017 called Chasing Coral. I highly recommend this even though it is a very sobering and sad film to watch. Those of us that enjoy the underwater world and those that make our living from the ocean can help in a very small way by trying to limit our contribution to the global warming phenomenon. Patrice and I once had dinner with Dr Ruth Gates here in Kona and she was a fascinating individual, she was trying to create coral that could withstand higher water temperatures which could then help save the species. Those of you that have young family members try and get them interested in marine sciences, they then possibly can help when they grow up to save our oceans. Frank
