Today was #worldseaturtleday ! Unprecedented, last week thirteen sites of nesting green sea #turtles were identified here on O’ahu, at Bellows Beach. Fun fact: turtles #migrate hundreds of miles between feeding and nesting grounds. They #navigate using #moonlight, #wave movements, and #magnetic fields. Using our #legal and practical expertise, we will navigate the complex US #immigration rules and procedures, for you and your #ohana (extended #family) to live here lawfully. DACA recipients are over the moon, just being able to move forward with life.

#supremecourt Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, champion of #genderequality, died today at age 87, may she rest in peace. A few days ago, she dictated to her granddaughter, My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed. Her death sets the stage for a political battle over a potential 6-3 conservative majority Court, with Chief Justice Roberts no longer holding the controlling vote that he has occasionally cast with the court’s more liberal wing - e.g., to protect so-called #DREAMers from #removal a.k.a. #deportation by the Trump administration (see previous post). This battle will be central to the presidential election and, with lifetime tenure, the Court appointment will in certain ways influence the US legal and political landscape more profoundly than the presidential election itself.

The US #supremecourt has upheld the #daca program, which protects hundreds of thousands of #immigrants brought to the US as children (so-called Dreamers) from removal. The court’s ruling means DACA beneficiaries may keep renewing membership in the program that provides work authorization and temporary protection from being removed from the US. : Mandel Ngan/AFP/Getty Images
