Aloha, Norpac Fisheries Export in Hawaii has been following the advice of health experts since the initial news of the Novel Coronavirus became known outside of China. Our response has been, and continues to be, sanitation and health above all else; for our employees, their families, and importantly, our customers. It is well documented that proper preventative measures have a tremendous impact upon slowing, and ultimately eliminating, the threat of the virus. However, we a...ll must all do our part and that means disruption of our usual routines, in order to eventually return to Normalcy. We are having those employees that can work from home. For those critical in helping to maintain the food supply, we are working diligently to provide an ultra-clean environment. We have always worn facemasks, hair covering, clean smocks and sanitized boots, as well as doing regular environmental swabbing and testing of our products. Hand washing and surface sanitizing is continual and frequent. Every day we meet as a team and discuss, among other things, the importance of Food Safety, proper hygiene, and diligence. We engage in 3rd party Food Safety audits on a regular basis, including private auditing labs using the most stringent Food Safety requirements, as well as audits by the USDC, FDA, and State Department of Agriculture. Our testing scores indicate our food safety scores are in the top 4% of all seafood companies. Working daily with an eye toward ever better Food Safety, and a mentality toward constant improvement. Every day is an opportunity to be better. This applies to our suppliers as well. We take nothing for granted, and we require of them the same 3rd party testing for processing and product Food Safety that we demand of ourselves. Further, we have our own, highly trained Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams present at every supplier, as well as in-house Food Safety personnel. Our faith in our country’s ability to surmount every crisis resides in the fact we are a free people that share common goals and values. We work with our suppliers and our customers, who have adopted and comply with these high standards. We will work in unison with them, to help ensure our nation has enough safe food to keep everyone healthy. We wish everyone well as we face this mounting threat, knowing our efforts will be successful, and when our will is tested, as it is now, we will remain strong, compassionate and resolute. Even now,as we feel diminished and disconnected. We can remain composed and reimagine our world. Lets reimagine our world on how we want it to be, not how it was. We are freed from constraints of false paradigm. What we need is more of less.
