Here’s a Flag Day fact for our U.S. fans. When our flagpole was installed and dedicated in June 1987 to our founder Jack Millar, the American flag was placed at the highest point. But we heard from several sources, including the U.S. Coast Guard, that the American flag should never fly on the masthead of a mast equipped with a gaff. Just as on a ship, the gaff, though lower in height, is the place of honor. Old Glory now flies proudly in this place of honor on the J.C. Millar flagpole.
