Did you know that your mouth is connected to your body and your mind? Poor oral hygiene can cause cavities, which lead to problems that stretch far beyond our mouths. For kids, tooth pain can even delay important developmental milestones!... Children with poor oral hygiene and cavities may have trouble sleeping, eating nutritious meals, focusing, speaking, and smiling. Children with tooth pain frequently act out, miss school, or struggle with confidence. Perhaps most worrisome, poor oral health can increase the risk associated with a wide variety of health conditions. By setting the right mindset for your little one, you are preparing them for a life of health and happiness. To set the right tone for your child, encourage healthy oral hygiene habits like brushing twice a day and flossing once per day. Make dental care fun by playing with dental games & reading dental books and visit your dental provider regularly to build trust. Our smiles are diverse and unique like we are, so teach your child to love and value their smile! #oralhealtheducation #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #dentistryforkids #dentalhygiene #hawaiipublichealth

#WellnessWednesday Hypertension Prevention Tip: preventing and treating high blood pressure can be done naturally and successfully! One of the best natural remedies for high blood pressure is an improved diet. Dieting is no fun & focuses on lack, so we encourage instead, a smart & creative approach to learning about and finding smart foods to ADD into your meal planning & eating efforts! These healthy food options specifically respond to your bodies needs and will... actively help you lower your blood pressure Stress management, supplements, exercise, reduced alcohol consumption, and no tobacco are all other options for addressing hypertension. Stay up to date and know your numbers; no question is dumb, so be sure to ask your PCP where your numbers fall & what it means for you at your next visit. ___ #prevention #preventativemedicine #hypertensionawarenessmonth #hawaiipublichealth
