Public urged to sign up to receive committee agendas by email Council Chair Alice L. Lee is urging members of the public to take advantage of a useful, online ...feature by signing up to receive committee meeting agendas by email. Committees are where most of the council’s work gets done, and it’s important for residents to be aware of what’s being discussed and decided, said Lee, who holds the council seat for the Wailuku-Waihe`e-Waikap residency area. The easiest way to stay up to date on proposed legislation discussed in committees is to get meeting agendas emailed to you as soon as they’re posted. Posting of agendas typically happens about a week before the scheduled meeting, Lee said. To sign up for automatic email notifications of newly posted meeting agendas: Go to MauiCounty.us/agendas and enter your email address in the box for Agenda Updates and click the submit button. You will then be redirected to the govdelivery.com page to confirm your email address and enter an optional password. Once you check the privacy box and click the submit button, you can then select which committee agendas to receive by email. The eight committees reflect county priorities, including housing, agriculture, land use, economic development and other issues affecting our quality of life, Lee said. If it’s an important issue for Maui County, there’s a committee designated to deal with it. In addition to the sign-up option for agenda updates, the MauiCounty.us/agendas website lists upcoming and previous committee and council meetings, including meeting details, minutes and links to live and archived videos. The MauiCounty.us/agendas website also provides an eComment feature that allows the public to submit testimony on posted agenda items. Residents can upload documents and materials, or if they just want to write in the text box, they can do so without even signing in, Lee said. We want it to be as simple as possible for residents to stay informed and get involved. Instructions on how to use eComment can be found at MauiCounty.us/eComment or by calling the Office of Council Services at (808) 270-7838. To sign up to receive email notifications of committee meeting agendas, please visit MauiCounty.us/agendas.
