Due to the changes on the planet, we are cancelling our Annual Pilgrimage of Compassion this summer.... This is being done to ensure the wellness of all. Come and experience a tranquil walk on the path of the 88 Shrines at the Lawai International Center on Sunday, January 26 with a tour at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Enjoy a talk story session about a hidden cultural treasure in Lawai Valley. The center is open to the public on the second and last Sunday of every month or by appointments only. Hand gardening tools (garden gloves, light hand weeders, clippers, sickles and rakes) 2. Learn the story of how this came to be. Walk the grounds. Visit the temple, which is a replica of the 13th Century Japanese temple, built by Japanese masters along with 1,600 volunteers, without nails or screws, yet can stand for 1,000 years. And walk the hillside which contains 88 miniature shrines, built in 1904 by Japanese immigrants to Kauai. open houses are on the 2nd and last Sunday of each month.
