Aloha! My name is Kari and I am excited to be joining Dr Ogata and the Smile Hawaii team. I was born and raised in Wailuku, Maui. ... I graduated from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Minor in Biology. I furthered my dental career afterwards by obtaining an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Hawai‘i Maui College. My passion for Dentistry started in 2004 when I started working as an Orthodontic Assistant. I love caring for patients, building trusting relationships, true friendships, and ensuring a comfortable and positive dental experience. I am devoted to high quality care and educating patients on how to maintain good oral health based on their individual needs. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Marc, and our two daughters, Madison and Mila. We love to travel, fish and camp at the beach, and bond with our ‘ohana. To our patients and friends I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to work with you. I am honored to have served each and every one of you as your hygienist. Our family is expanding (baby #2 due in July!) and we are relocating to North Carolina. My last day at Smile Hawaii will be April 29, 2021. I will miss you all dearly. ... I will miss catching up with you and hearing updates on your families. I will miss being able to celebrate you and congratulate you on your accomplishments, both in your personal lives and in your oral health. Mostly I will miss the aloha you all have brought into my life when you came to visit me in our office. I also want to thank Dr Ogata for being the wonderful leader that he is and for pushing me towards excellence. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have worked for the BEST dentist on Maui! And to the team at Smile Hawaii, thank you for making me feel loved and supported these last three years.
