Here’s a deal on some lovely local art at Volcano Art Center. One of the great places to visit in beautiful Volcano, Hawai’i.
A spectacular place!

Kilauea Overlook now open at HVNP starting today! See the change in Halemaumau since the 2018 eruption! While the pictures are amazing, there’s nothing like seeing it in person!
A wonderful thing to do while visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is to go bird watching and learn about our native birds!
Holoholo is a Hawaiian word that can mean to go out for pleasure, take a stroll. For locals, it has come to mean "to jump in the car and go exploring". It is a favorite pastime in my house. Yesterday, we holoholo'd from Hilo to Ka'u on the south end of Hawai'i Island. We first stopped in Mt View at Koana, a hip new boutique coffee shop featuring Big Island coffees. Cool spot! Next, on to Pahala Town, where coffee and macadamia nut orchards dot the former sugar cane landscape.... We stopped in at Ka'u Coffee Mill and made our way further up the road from there to Wood Valley. In Wood Valley, we visited a Buddhist Temple called Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling. Peace and serenity found here. Continuing south on Mamalahoa Highway/Highway 11, next stop Punalu'u Town. There we made our way to famous Punalu'u Bake Shop for a ono (yummy) deli sandwich, and Portuguese sweet bread and malasada treats. We took our goodies to Punalu'u Black Sand Beach to picnic and have a swim. There were some large honu (turtles) basking in the sun on the sand there. The ocean water at Punalu'u is a mix of fresh spring water and ocean salt water, making it a double treat of warm and cold water. Hawaiians used to go to the bottom of the ocean here to gather fresh water. On the way back from Punalu'u to Hilo, a quick stop in at Hawai'i National Volcanoes Park to see the drastically changed landscape of Halemaumau Crater inside Kilauea Crater from the newly opened lookout between KMC (Kilauea Military Camp) and the now closed Jagger Observatory. Get outside! Holoholo! See more
SO happy to see our National Park opening more options starting June 15, 2020. Be safe and well out there!
