Last month I had the amazing opportunity to attend #stylelabworkshop in Tasmania with an extremely talented group of instructors and pet photographers. It was a trip of many firsts, including photographing a Maremma (or a White Floof as his mom calls him ). How handsome is @griffin_and_wyatt_maremmas at the Little Blue Lake?

I know it’s been a while but I just wanted to pop in to say hi and that I hope whatever your holidays look like this year, that you enjoy every minute of it with your family and furbabies One of my highlights was finishing up @alohadoodles808 Puppy Plan, a series of 3 sessions to document their adorable growth over the course of a year!

Did you know black dogs tend to sit in a shelter 4x longer than light colored dogs? Some perceive black dogs to be mean, harder to photograph, or just average looking. @paradisepomsky is one of many I’ve met this year that proves Black Dog Syndrome is just ridiculous! #blackdogday

Meet Zero, the most handsome smooth fox terrier I've ever met! We spent the morning exploring the tidepools at Makapuu, where he diligently followed the "treat lady" everywhere for photos and food. This was Zero's first beach day ever, so I wanted to capture some shots of his first dip in the ocean. This little water baby was a natural and I imagine there will be many more beach days to come! #dogsofhawaii #dogphotographer #makapuu #makapuubeach #smoothfoxterrier

Do you have a dog that LOVES the water? And when I say love, I really mean obsessed - like sprints straight into the ocean and you pretty much have to carry them out to get them home. If this sounds like your waterbaby then I’d love to hear from you! I’ll be at the @hawaiidoggiebakery this Saturday from 11am-2pm with lots of ABC: Dogs in Hawaii books for sale. 100% of the profits go to @wwf_australia to help the endangered wildlife affected by the recent bushfires. I’ll also have more details and applications for my upcoming Water Dogs project! Sea you there!

Very sad to hear about another friend, Eileen Abe, passing this morning. She had a unique gift of animal communication and energy healing that I know many of us here in Hawaii got to experience. I’ve been reading though some old emails of our communication sessions with Kobe and began to cry, remembering what an amazing person she was and how deeply she cared for this community. I first met Eileen in 2016 and immediately recognized how her positivity and smiles were so contag...ious. Her warm personality made you feel like you’ve been friends for years. Since then we’ve participated in many events together and she has been the most incredible, supportive friend. I remember how she connected with many of my clients, providing them with so much comfort after their furbaby crossed the rainbow bridge. I remember how she let us use her home to practice a last minute dance before our wedding. And how she was more prepared for our wedding than me (when it started to rain during the ceremony she immediately pulled out her umbrellas for us to use). I remember talking to her about my ABC book, and how she offered to make Kobe’s Kamehameha helmet - making the K page perfect. Eileen, thank you for everything. I will miss you dearly

I’m still in shock and heartbroken thinking of Gary and the @rawdoghawaii family. His presence in Hawaii’s pet community was truly invaluable, as he helped thousands of dogs (including our Kobe!) who suffered from allergies and other health conditions. But what I’ll remember most about Gary aside from his genuine love for dogs was how kind and supportive he was. I first met him at a @hawaiipetbusinessnetwork meeting during my first year in my business. That year was rough, b...ut I remember all the little things that kept me going. Like how every time I talked to Gary he made me feel like I was the best photographer in the world. Even if it was a quick phone call, he always made sure to mention a recent photo I took and how much he loved it. This photo of their booth was taken at my first Pet Expo. I don’t think he knew just how much it meant to me that he picked my photo of Roxy to be part of their display and amazing brand. But thats just who Gary was, one of the biggest supporters of local business and farmers. Thank you Gary, I will miss you

Ready to say goodbye to 2019 and these fireworksAs I’m writing this, @thingsonkobe is lying by my feet as we watch Secret Life of Pets 2 on Netflix at full volume to drown out the random explosions outside. It’s a scary and stressful night for the furbabies, but the best thing we can do is just be there for them
