Which are Endemic? How did you do? Correct Answer: B, E, F, and H... Today, many of the remaining endemic species of plants and animals in the Hawaiian Islands are considered endangered, and some critically endangered. Picture fun facts A. Mo'o (Gecko) There are about 9 species of geckos in Hawaii and all have been introduced. B. Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua (Monk Seal) endangered species and the official state mammal of Hawaii C. Mango. Although sought and fought after by locals haha this was originally brought from Manila D. Bird of Paradise is a tropical flower native to South Africa E. Nn (Hawaiian Goose) Only found in Hawaii and is the official state bird of Hawaii. F. peapea (Hoary Bat) Endemic and endangered. They are rarely seen and are nocturnal hunters that feed on insects. G. Pineapple was introduced in the 1800's and became a Hawaii industry in the 1900's. H. ‘O‘opu ‘alamo‘o (Fresh water goby) Endemic and food source of native Hawaii. They have a salmon like lifestyle and can climb waterfalls. I. Honu (Sea turtle) Native but not endemic.
