Accounting Club at the University of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College

On March 4, the KapCC Accounting Club and the Accounting Program hosted our annual Resume Workshop. We like to thank the professionals who showed up to help our students improve their resumes: Mr. Alan Matsui (from KMH LLP), Ms. Abigail Ugale (Accountemps), and Ms. Liana Fajayan and Ms. Mahina Quinn (from HiAccounting). Also, thank you to Ms. Angela Coloretti McGough from KapCC Employment Prep Center, for hosting the presentation and the workshop.

20 students and 4 ACC faculty visited UH West Oahu to visit their campus, ACC professors, and academic advisors. Mahalo to professors: Frank Kudo, Katie Landgraf, Eric Wen, and Susan McMahon and their advisors. Thank you for your hospitality!

And with the hard work of our club officers, the first ever virtual edition of Accounting Student Night was held successfully on November 18. Road trip!! 26 students with 4 faculty members toured HiAccounting office in downtown Honolulu today. Thank you Matt, Liana, Logan and everyone at HiAccounting. Our students enjoyed the tour and interaction with your staff!!

On April 5, Friday, members of the KapCC Accounting Club toured UH West Oahu campus. First, we were greeted by Mr. Frank Kudo, Ms. Katie Landgraf and Ms. Susan McMahon, Accounting professors, along with two former students from KapCC: Gladys and Lester. They provided us with valuable information about the Accounting program on their campus. They also provided us with delicious bento boxes for lunch! After lunch, we went on a guided tour around their campus. Accounting Professor Eric Wen joined us along the way. We visited the library, the organic garden, the student lounge, the cafeteria, etc. Special mahalo to Dr. Iong who provided us with transportation.

Mahalo to Ms. Su Lazo from the Employment Prep Center at KapCC, who gave us a great presentation at our very first virtual event this semester. The "Effective Resume Writing and Mastering Interviews Seminar" was held earlier today, from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm. Today, Communication Workshop! Mahalo to Su Lazo from our KapCC Employment Prep Center for presenting and teaching us over an hour of professional communication skills. This is the first of a series of workshops the Accounting Club will host this semester. We will have Resume Writing Workshop in March and Mock Interviews in May.

On April 12, Accounting Club members toured the office of ProService Hawaii at Hawaii Kai. Mahalo to Mr. Tyler Tuipulotu, Talent Acquisition Consultant, at ProService, who provided us with a great presentation, a grand tour as well as refreshments. Our students were able to meet and chat with employees at ProService about their work experience. Once again, mahalo to Dr. Iong who provided us with round trip transportation!

On April 1, the Accounting Club participated at the KCC RIO Field Day at the great lawn. The Club provided Dunkin' Donuts Munchkins to students as snacks. Also, collected student's entries for one of two $10 Starbucks gift cards. Students who won in the "Mastermind" game received a second entry form to double their chance for winning. Drawings will be held at the next general meeting scheduled for April 16, at 4:30 pm at Kopiko 102/103. Chansothy, Rey, Alyssa and Steven took turns watching the club table.

General meeting today... very happy to see a few students stepped up to be officers for next semester. Also thanks our outgoing officers for their contributions!!

On March 8, club officers: Chansothy, Kezeah, Rey and Alyssa had a chance to assisting the Accounting Program in hosting student visit from Kaimuki Middle School! Great job, club officers!!
