In late March, we scrambled together some canoe materials we had lying around and made 500 face shields to give away to those in need. We thought that was all that we’d do before returning full time to canoe manufacturing. ... But, as we began to understand the dire need for PPE in Hawai’i, we slowly began to ramp up our production capacity to try and fully meet that need. With the help of a grant from the State of Hawai’i through the Hawai’i Technology Development Corporation, we’ve been able to invest in the equipment and personnel necessary to ramp production up significantly. As case counts in Hawai’i begin to climb again, we want to do our part to make sure our health care providers and first responders have adequate protection. Ron has always been there for the paddling community passing on his stoke for the sport to everyone who walked through the door to Island Paddler and sponsoring race after race for decades. Now it’s our turn to be there for Ron and Shae as he battles an aggressive form of cancer. Due to another Stay at Home order on O'ahu, we will stop canoe production for at least two weeks. We are ready to go right back into full production as soon as the order ends, but we appreciate your patience and understanding with these delays. We still cannot accept any repairs, and delivery dates of online merchandise orders are longer. If you currently have something on order and want to cancel or want to postpone the order, please send us an email, and we'll work with you.... We are still producing and shipping face shields. This is just a small part of our camera-shy crew who have been working around the clock (our CNC techs work 24 hrs!) to prep and assemble face shields.
