It’s Cagney & Lacey! These 2 sweet girls are hoping that they will find a permanent home of their own soon. They haven had any suitable applicants and are not high maintenance at all. In fact, they are the very opposite. They require a laid back home where they will be the only 2 animals. Lacey needs Cagney for companionship and is very timid. Change frightens her so if your house is busy, she would not be happy there. ... If you have a nice, slow, older doggie then Lacey wouldn’t mind as long as Cagney would be comfortable, too. For our new page pals who may not be aware: these 2 are bonded in a way that goes beyond normal bonds. They relied on one another while in that feral cat colony and nothing has changed. They are a team of lovely ladies who simply want nothing more than a permanent home, a quiet place to live and a human to call their very own! If you want to read more about this #dynamicduo please click this link www.k9kokua.org to our website. WOOF!

HELP! DIRE NEED FOR A PRIVATE FOSTER FOR AN OLD DOG! SHE HAS BEEN ABANDONED & ROAMING SCHOFIELD BARRACKS FOR YEARS! PLEASE SHARE! ... LOLA COMES OUT IN THE OPEN MORE AND WE FEAR SHE IS TIRED AND GIVING UP. SHE REMAINS CAUTIOUS ABOUT THE INTENTIONS OF HUMANS. SHE HAS BEEN EXHIBITING SIGNS OF PAIN/DISCOMFORT. *SEE THE LUMP ON HER BACK? WE ARE UNSURE IF SHE WAS INJURED, BITTEN BY A POISONOUS SPIDER OR IF THIS IS CANCEROUS. PLEASE HELP US TO HELP LOLA! An optimal private foster home for Lola would be in a quieter home with no children, cats or dogs. If there is one nice dog, it may work but nothing is known about this senior dog yet and she cannot risk being bounced from foster to foster. All she needs is a safe place to rest and heal. Could that be with you? From what we are hearing, Lola has been loose for 5-6 years! This isn’t only sad, this means she will need someone gentle to allow her the space she needs to adjust back to indoor living. Thanks to good sammie Kaley, she is doing the very best she can to get Lola dog help! We are ready to provide trapping, additional medical and support to assist Kaley and help Lola. Nothing can be done until Kaley is able to secure a foster home though. If you are able to foster Lola, please Email Kaley at [email protected]. Homecheck will be required. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! WE ALL WANT TO HELP BUT LOLA NEEDS YOU TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE! Mahalo for your compassion for this elder dog who was callously left out there by the last person/family who had her. Share, share, share everywhere! WOOF!

Flashback of the miracle survivor, Laddie, on this day last year! Original post reads : BRAG WORTHY!: Check out the new skill Laddie learned!!!! AROO! As many of you may recall, this little dude nearly died after being hit by a car and being left on the road. He was once houseless and even though we provided care to enable him to remain with his human, she chose to give him to someone who obviously did not watch him and he was allowed to escape. Thankfully, his good sam...mie saw Laddie in the road and stopped to help him! The person who had him kept his collar & ID tag on and he was microchipped to us as an emergency contact. Phew! We quickly got Laddie into vet care to be stabilized then immediately transferred him to emergency hospital where remained for weeks at VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital while healing from the effects of massive head and chest trauma. We didn’t know if he would pull through his critical condition. Thanks to all of your support, shares and donations toward his vet care, Laddie fully recovered and is now enjoying the best life with his adoptive ohana and big brother Bear, the GSD. Laddie, we are ecstatic to see you continuing to progress and so very proud you have embraced the GRReat life you now have! Goodness knows that you have come a long way since the days of being a less confident dog that barked and snarled. We are so proud of you and thank your mama for her commitment and love! Seeing you excel in everything you do and the confidence you have regained through your ohana’s love, patience and gentle guidance is incredibly pawsome! You are a survivor in every sense of the word and it warms our hearts to know that you are loved so fiercely. We miss you and send you lots of sunshine and Aloha. Keep up the GRReat work! WOOF!

Continuing with mahalos!: 5 dogs who have never received comfort before have been given a new bed by our handsome pal, Treeger! Treeger and his ohana may sound familiar to you as they help to make every Christmas special for a dog in need. Flashback reshare about what Humane Lobby Day is and Hope’s Law Hawaii - an act for a bill that will need your supportive voice to become law! https://m.youtube.com/watch

The dogs & puppies send their tail wags in GRReat appreciation to The Humane Society of the United States for recently awarding a grant for vet care! #aroo The funds have provided bloodwork, fecal testing, spay/neuter surgeries, prescription medications and 2 dental extractions!!! #sopawsome The houseless dogs and dogs in foster care also would like to send mahalos to HI State Dir. Susan R. for shopping their Amazon Wish List and sending in dozens of different sized collars..., proper ear cleaner, an abundance of bowls, styptic powder and hundreds upon hundreds of potty pads in November! #Thanksgiving4Dogs Our new page pals may not know this but for more than a decade K9 Kokua has co-hosted Humane Lobby Day with HSUS HI! What is Humane Lobby Day? It is a day where advocates come together in support of strengthening the animal laws in Hawaii. Many of you may remember hearing about Hope’s Law Hawaii, named after a sweet and gentle, microchipped, American Pit Bull Terrier that was found unresponsive on Pa’akea Rd. in Nanakuli. She was microchipped and had there been a law like this in place, the person she was microchipped to could have been charged with her cruelty and ultimately contributed to her untimely death. #HopesLawHawaiiHanaHou The last couple of years’ of shutdowns + constantly changing mandates have made it difficult to gather and we really appreciate HSUS’ continued support and Aloha for the dogs! We hope that the 2022 legislative session will allow for non-restricted, in-person advocates to support stronger anti-abuse and anti-cruelty animal laws in Hawai’i. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we will be updating you if we will once again be able to invite the public to attend Humane Lobby Day with us. WOOF!

UPDATE!: PRIVATE FOSTER HOME STILL NEEDED FOR SENIOR DOG THAT HAS BEEN ABANDONED & ROAMING SCHOFIELD BARRACKS FOR YEARS! Thanks to good sammie Kaley, she is stepping up to get this dog help! She has named this elderdog Lola and needs help securing a private foster for her! PLEASE SHARE! An optimal foster home for Lola would be in a safe, quieter home space with no children, cats or dogs. If there is one nice dog, it may work but nothing is known about this senior dog yet ...and she cannot risk being bounced from foster to foster. From what we are hearing, she has been loose for 5-6 years! This isn’t only sad, this means she will need someone gentle to allow her the space she needs to adjust back to indoor living. Her private foster should not be one who will corner her or force her to hug but one who will guide her with kind words and slow movements. If this sounds like you, we ask that you please Email Kaley at [email protected]. Homecheck will be required. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! LOLA’s SKIN IS DROOPING & SHE HAS A LARGE SPOT ON HER BACK! *As you know, we are not a rescue group. The collab: While Kaley handles the major task of handling all things regarding Lola’s private foster/daily care, K9 Kokua will be providing; safe trapping, resources, vet care, elderdog supplies and support. Our Dir. of Community Relations just so happens to also be one of our star volunteer trappers and is working with Kaley to trap Lola! There are many moving parts to this effort and we ask that others stay away from the area to allow for a smooth and successful capture. First, Lola needs a foster! If you would like to help Lola with a small donation towards her upcoming care needs + medications, please click the direct link www.paypal.me/k9kokua or click the donate button on our website www.k9kokua.org 100% of your contribution will go towards helping this innocent! Mahalo for your compassion for this elder who was callously left out there by the last person/family who had her. Share, share, share everywhere! WOOF!
