30 minutes sped up to 4 of me mobilizing and exploring on my friend the box aka noodling as uncle K calls it @thereadystate no real intention, just enjoying my ability to move and play in this monkey suit before my strength training session. The song (Views) happened to fit the exact number of seconds of the video so thanks for that Ikson, the lazy man's edit motion is lotion, folks. Neural priming, behavioral conditioning, and rewiring your brain were major topics of discussion during my fasting and meditation retreat. 2020 dates are set! The good news is we can change our actions and habits whenever we want. This concept is called neuroplasticity (our brains are adaptabl...e). First, set the intention to change. Write it down! This is why journaling is a cornerstone method I use with myself and my clients to create new habits / patterns that lead to new realities. Change your habits, change your life. Marcus Aurelius swore by journaling as one of his 6 key pillars to building an optimal life. Then, set up your environment to reinforce the new habits you wish to create. You must also remove the things from your environment that reinforce / encourage / trigger the old behavior you are trying to eliminate. If you cannot regulate the environment, then remove yourself. Let me say that again... you cannot control everything / others, but you are 100% responsible for your actions / wellbeing so REMOVE YOURSELF from environments that are not optimizing your life. That means "friends", family, or circumstances that are causing you stress or contributing to the repetition of unhealthy / undesirable patterns. Friends, you can be, do, and have so so so much more. Set the intention to change and focus on practicing the tried and true methods available to you here and now to rewire your brain and start creating your dream life. This is a tutorial video on how to perform the yogic pranayama technique known as breath of fire. You can throw this video on and follow along with me as I explain the technique and perform it with you. 1. Pump the navel as you rapidly exhale from the nose and naturally allow a quick inhale to occur between each exhale. Shoot for 1 to 3 minutes of breath of fire or something like 100 to 300 exhales. ... 2. Exhale all the air in your system and then hold your breath while squeezing all the muscles of your pelvic floor (root lock as explained in the video). I like to vacuum the core in and up while holding this exhale and squeezing the perineum. 3. When you feel the need to breathe, forcefully inhale a big breath in through your nose, and then hold the breath again while applying the root lock. Relax the body and drop the shoulders, softening your forehead and focusing your eyes on the point between the brow (the pineal gland, known as the third eye or the sixth chakra). 4. When you feel the need to breathe, exhale calmly through the nose and take a few resting breaths. Feel the tingling sensation slowly washing over you from the top of your head down your body into your arms and legs like the snow of a snow globe settling to the bottom. 5. Repeat the same process two more times. 6. Sit quietly for 5 to 20 minutes and enjoy the euphoric biochemical cocktail of clarity and joy that follows. This practice can be done anywhere, but I highly recommend doing it outside in nature under the sun with your skin contacting the earth for optimal benefits. Great news, fam. I have been pretty quiet on the social media channels the last few months because I have been slaving away on a big side project. I didn't want to share too soon and ruin the hype but I am almost finished with my membership site that will be where I post a majority of my long form educational content from now on. The circuit in the video is listed below: A1) Barbell hip thrust x5 A2) Low incline dumbbell alternating press x5e A3) Barbell rollout x5 Perform this circuit three times in a row without resting. Record your time when you finish. Rest for 3 to 5 minutes and then repeat the circuit again with an extra rep on each. What gets measured gets results. Journaling has been one of the absolute biggest games changers in my life in helping me to refine the process of living my healthiest, best life. Many of the most brilliant and impactful humans to have walked the earth accredit their success to this simple yet profound practice of reflection and contemplation. I set the intention to start journaling consistently in May of 2013 as a way of documenting my life to find out what was working and ...what was not working in getting me to my goals of optimizing my health and performance based on the results I observed. Once I record the objective and subjective results of each experiment, I make adjustments based on my conclusions to refine the process and then I repeat. As Bruce Lee said, "Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own." This is the scientific experiment of life, and you are both the scientist and the experiment. Research. 1 x 100. Imagine there are 100 variables that influence your health and each one contributes 1%. If you're mindful of all 100, you have 100% optimal health, and vice a versa. The game we play is first becoming aware of what the 100 variables are and how they work. Then, it becomes a game of finding out how you can keep your score high while also enjoying life optimally. If you can't do all 100 things in 1 day, do 1 thing for 100 days. 1% for 100 days is 100% better. Go to ...the gym one day and you wouldn't expect to get better, but go to the gym for 100 days and you would expect some change. This is also where you find the power of the compounding effect. Every 100 days, implement one new habit / skill / task and practice that new 1% for 100 days. Each new skill learned builds on top of every skill you know. The momentum will build. The pain experienced ...from touching a hot stove creates a memory that benefits you in the future by being mindful of touching hot things. Sometimes pain is needed to create a strong enough experience for you to desire to change your behavior. The key point is it is your choice as to how you learn. Getting frisky at the beach with my guy @julien.kryt hoisting some bells. Exercising outside is such a treat. Grass under the feet, fresh air in the lungs, sun on the skin, and an ocean behind me to jump in afterward. Combining the elements of nature with training is one of my favorite things to do and it is an efficient way to save time. Speaking of saving time, here are the two movements we paired in this circuit to get a lot of work done in a short amount of t...ime. An alternating overhead press with a front squat and an alternating gorilla row with a pushup. We did 2 rounds of 8 for each and then 2 rounds of 6 for each (8 on the press was tough lol) with 90 seconds rest after each round.
