ON SATURDAY, #HonoluluFF rescued 24-year-old hiker who injured his right knee while hiking Stairway to Heaven. Rescue specialists were airlifted to the summit and located the injured hiker (who had been hiking since 7 AM with a female partner) at 3:04 PM -- Both individuals were airlifted to a landing zone at Kaneohe District Park where he was then transferred by HFD to Emergency Medical Services. ON SUNDAY, March 28, #HonoluluFF rescued 3 hikers off a trail in the Kualoa area. They were airlifted off of the trail located near Kaaawa Valley Road and brought to safety. According to EMS, one of the hikers (a 40-year-old man) was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition for an apparent foot injury. No other injuries reported. ON SATURDAY, #HonoluluFF responded to a 2:19 PM call at Koko Head Trail where a 10-year-old boy fell 50-feet backwards after taking a misstep and falling until another hiker stopped his fall. Fire crews hiked 3/4 of the way up and found him with abrasions to his right knee and left elbow but he was conscious at all times -- He and his mother were airlifted to a nearby landing zone at the Koko Head District Park where his care was transferred to awaiting EMS Personnel. YESTERDAY, #HonoluluFF responded to an early fire in a 9-story Waikiki condo that displaced a family of four. About (10) fire crews with (39) personnel were called at about 1:09 AM to the Pacific International Condo on Ala Wai Boulevard. Firefighters then made a force entry into the 4th floor unit to gain access and perform a primary occupant search. By 1:30 AM, fire crews had the fire under control and later had it extinguished by 1:44 AM. No injuries were reported. #HonoluluFF extinguished raging house fire in Kalihi on Monday at 907 Winant Street that nearly claimed a man's life. A good Samaritan said he was cutting grass in the area when the fire started and rushed to see if anyone needed help. When he kicked open the door of the home, he saw an elderly man lying on the ground and after pulling the man to safety, the good Samaritan rushed back inside to make sure no one was inside (https://bit.ly/2PJj8pz via Hawaii News Now ) The fir...e began at approximately 11:41 AM and when fire crews arrived, flames were shooting from the back and right side of the structure. The flames then spread to the back of (2) other houses and damaged (2) vehicles parked on the street near the affected area. Approximately $1.17M is estimated in total damages to all (3) homes and its contents and a total of 30 people (27 adults and 3 children) have been displaced. ON SATURDAY, #HonoluluFF and other first responders were on scene at a motor vehicle crash on the H1 Freeway eastbound near the airport off-ramp. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM when a vehicle rolled over on the freeway. The victim, a 61-year-old woman, was brought to the hospital in serious condition. Two left lanes were closed as firefighters, police and emergency responders attended to the incident.
