Aloha Belly Dance 23.12.2021

The sacrum bone of Tequixquiac - carved from the sacrum of a now-extinct camelid, estimated 7-14 thousand years ago. "Sacrum" = "sacred." Beginning our dance practice with very gentle movements to stimulate energy flow up through our sacrum; good music is "Mirage" by Gypsy Caravan.

As time continues to grace us! Taking a workshop with my mentor for so many years Elena Lentini. She is beyond an inspiration to me and so grateful that I have ...the privilege to continue to study with her when I can. Love the second pic of dear Tava Naiyin, Elena and me at today’s workshop! Azizah Gomes is such a beautiful example of connecting movement and breath - of contraction and expansion - her movements are captivating!

We were working on belly dance beledi movements and a nice moving-backward combination today. This YouTube vid by Madrin'ha is not quite what were were doing - but her moves are very sensuous and flowing; this YouTube that she's produced is a good study piece for fluid hip drop and undulation work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6N36OVVQSw

Energy practice for this week: Read about the chakra spinning directions (see link), and - mostly working with heart chakra (chest / ribs) and sexual chakra (tan tien, just below belly button), play with vertical-plane rotations. Imagine a clock pinned to you, facing out, and rotate in the direction of the clock's rotation (clockwise, facing out, so you're right behind the moving hands on the clock). http://www.rickrichards.com/Chakras.htm
