*** UPDATE *** ..ALL...FERRIES...CANCELLED!!! FOR THE WHOLE DAY !!! .... I have just received word that there will be ...N.O....FERRIES TODAY, due to sea conditions.. . Therefore I will Not be able to deliver you your Sunday paper today ! I know how much we all look forward to Our Sunday papers (subscribers will receive their Sunday paper tomorrow) & I apologize for this disappointment. See more

....***aloha to All Home Delivery customers of 'ALL the News'; delivery times & weekly schedules have changed so many times, I thought I'd give everyone an up-to-date status report. Papers from Honolulu (Star Advertiser & USA Today) for the foreseeable future: they arrive on Hawai'ian Air, (doing business as Ohana Air) on their first Hnl-Lny flight of theday & is ETA on Lanai, at 11:00AM, 7 days a week, when all is running smoothly, this means those papers will be in whicheve...r grocery is opened (hopefully by 11:45 AM), that's 7 days a week (note: as of 5/9/20 the Star Advertiser will change to a 6 papers a week schedule). Now, as to the Maui News (which is more problematic), it depends on the Expedition ferry schedule, which currently is 2 RTs /day (first boat landing at the Small boat harbor around 7:30AM), the 2nd, & last ferry leaves Lahaina at 3:15PM, arriving Manele around 4PM, those times are on Mon, Wed & Fri) & I will be picking them up & getting them into the stores by 8:15 AM - home delivery will be done with the Honolulu papers, starting around noon each day; the MN 'Weekend edition', which is published on Sat. each week (& because there are no boats Sat or Sun) will be delivered on Monday. None of this makes anybody happy (most of all, me), & I apologize for this breakdown, but myself (and Lana'i) are a tiny slice of these huge businesses' market, the Star (& USA Today) have gone the extra mile for Us, & the Maui News, which has struggled over the past few years just to stay afloat, & Keep their papers 'on the stand'. So, as much as I (& You, I'm sure) am negatively effected (I am doing twice as many miles, burning 60% more fuel), working (instead of 2-3 hours/day), about 6 hours each day, and, due to lower sales, actually receiving Less Pay; please don't misunderstand me, this is not meant as a 'whining session' ("Oh, poor me"), but rather so you can understand why I am not able to maintain my commitment to getting All deliveries done before 10AM; even when I'm sweating, delivering papers around noon, I make myself stop & realize just how fortunate I & All of Us are: Our tiny island may very well be the only place in the US of A (who knows, maybe in the world) with NO CASES of the virus (Knock on Wood), and as such We are truly unique & blessed; so Please, let's realize That & deal with the minor inconveniences with a smile (behind Our masks) & be patient & Kind to Ourselves & Each Other, keep Our eyes on Our Kapuna, & All for whom this is an even greater challenge. We are pretty sure they will make the second boat, & I will be delivering them later this morning. I apologize for the inconvenience & assure you I will get your papers to you as soon as possible...

..*** UPDATE *** . ...the S-As have Not made the 9:15 boat; I will say I'm relatively sure ithey will be on the 12:45...& I will do my best to get them to you all As quickly as Possible ....

*** BETTER NEWS *** . ...The papers have made it to the dock in Lahaina, and will come over on the 12:45; again, I apologize for the delay (Why does it always have to happen on Sunday !!! ) ...I appreciate your patience, & am Proud to be Lana'is ' paperboy !!! ...aloha to each & all of you.....

. ...H.O...!..H.O...!...H.O.!!!....(in a mildly ironic "Gift"),... .... .it appears that the newspapers were not taken off the first ferry.....(of course on a rare day that I hadn't made it to the small boat harbor before the ferry left for its return to Lahaina), therefore (you may have already noticed) there will be no papers this mornng, either home delivered in in the stores, ......so, my friends, in the Xmas spirit, i will be making my second trip to the harbor, and... meeting the second boat (when it arrives at 10 AM....so much for making anything for today's deliveries !) .... for my part, I will strive to 'take it all in stride', keep a smile on my aging face, maybe get some of my (last minute/overdue) Xmas 'stuff' done, and i will get the papers into the stores & as many home deliveries as possible before a Drs appointment at 11. & I'll complete my route as quickly as possible after noon..... so Please, bear with me....
